Will YOU Save Freedom? Catch The Tea Party Wave

The Tea Party movement has taken the nation by storm, in spite of attempts by the media and establishment to first ignore it, then dismiss it and now use all the tools in their Alinsky toolbox against it.  Initially protesting high taxes, spending and bailouts, it is maturing into a political movement that advocates a return to a constitutional republic, fiscal prudence and restoration of liberties.

 Tea Party Threat Made Good

How should the Tea Party address that? Protests? Voter education? Advocacy? Evaluating public officials and candidates?  PACs?  A third party?  Turn out the vote?

Boxing Tea Party in with dollar signs unwise, author says

Not just any author, but Joseph Farah.

Your thoughts?

The Mission of the Ventura County Tea Party, a non-profit, non-partisan Citizen grassroots organization, is to help: restore fiscal responsibility; effect reductions in taxes and spending of the government at the local, state, and national levels; mobilize and empower citizens through communication, education and the use of election, initiative and petition processes; to restore free markets, personal freedoms and rights that have been diminished, due to extensive growth of government control, and its apparent unwillingness to faithfully execute existing laws and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Goals & Objectives:
1. Increase awareness of our Tea Party and conservative principles.

2. Be inclusive of all fiscally conservative constituents.

3. Make government and parties aware of our solid principles of freedom.

4. Organize and provide education that will implement a voice in government.

5. Motivate support of conservative candidates and politicians who exemplify Constitutional principles.

Warning to Tea Parties from a Patriot

We already have a model for a successful freedom revolution – the one that started with the original tea party in 1773. Remember, those Boston patriots didn't dump the tea because they didn't want to pay taxes. They dumped the tea because the tax was illegal – imposed on colonists without any representation. The colonists even offered to reimburse the East India Tea Company for the discarded tea. It was a matter of principle, not economics. It was a matter of liberty and the rule of law, not materialism.

Thus, I say to my friends in the tea-party movement – disavow any leadership, any coalitions, any federations, any membership criteria that limit your agenda and actions to matters of economics. Economics is important. But economics alone can't restore America's unique concept of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness under God.

Joseph Farah is founder, editor and CEO of WND and a nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate. He is the author or co-author of 13 books, including his latest, "The Tea Party Manifesto: A Vision for an American Rebirth," and his classic, "Taking America Back: A Radical Plan to Revive Freedom, Morality and Justice," now in its third edition and 14 printings. Farah is the former editor of the legendary Sacramento Union and other major-market daily newspapers.

The Significance of the Tea Party, By Vedran Vuk

This appeared in Casey's Daily Dispatch (http://Caseyresearch.com ) 8-6-10

The constant Tea Party media coverage should strike you as peculiar. After all, who cares? American history has been filled with protesters. There have been anti-war protesters, environmentalists, and labor unions at every turn. And they’re still at it today.

Further, there’s nothing to make the Tea Party stand out. The media will point to the racists and weirdoes in the bunch, but this is nothing new for protesting groups. Any environmental rally will round up plenty of strange tree-huggers and eco-terrorist sympathizers. Let’s not forget the gay pride parades. There are plenty of weirdoes there too. Yet, despite their quirks, these other groups aren’t getting much attention lately. In fact, they must be a bit jealous of the Tea Partiers.

Another strange aspect of the coverage is the bundling of the movement. There are many different protests taking place. Sometimes, it’s an immigration protest, sometimes it’s taxes, and sometimes it’s even a protest against the Federal Reserve. But for some reason, the “Tea Party” is grouped as a single entity. No one attempts to group environmentalists and gay rights protesters together. There’s not a Green Tea Party out there encompassing several left-leaning agendas.

I don’t believe that these differences are mere circumstance. After all, Democrats have a lot to fear from these new protesters. For the first time (outside abortion protests), the right-wing is utilizing left-wing organization tactics.

What do you think Obama’s job was as a “community organizer?” He organized rabble-rousing movements. He wasn’t a social worker or a non-profit volunteer attempting to feed the hungry. His job as a community organizer was to build political movements under the guise of grassroots. Similarly, many individuals are beginning to fill the same role within the Tea Party. They might not be called “community organizers,” but they perform the same job.

Community organization isn’t about backing a politician like a single campaign (sound similar to the Tea Party?). Instead, it’s about building a lasting power base. For this reason, community organizers often participate in on-the-surface good acts. They may clean up an abandoned lot in a poor neighborhood, or get funding for a small playground, or organize an after-school program for teenagers. These aren’t altruistic acts but rather investments in a power structure. By establishing trust and legitimacy early on, the community can be more easily manipulated for political ends later.

Organizers particularly enjoy small projects with high possibilities of success. By showing success with one project, they begin to gain trust soon to be abused. The organizers don’t give a damn about the playground; they’re looking at the big picture.

For more on the strategies of community organizers, check out one of their own books, Roots to Power – A Manual for Grassroots Organizing by Lee Staples. I’ve read about a third of the book myself and plan on finishing it in the future. Thus far, it’s absolutely fascinating. You’ll never look at inner-city protests and organizations the same way again. Often, they are simply puppets dancing for distant masters. Manipulating disadvantaged communities for political gain has practically become a science.

The Right is finally picking up the same process with the Tea Party. Naturally, the Left is frightened. A segment of the population that usually doesn’t stand up is spending considerable time and money on political organization.

Of course, the Left has a game plan in response. First, they want to put the same label on all protesters, aka “the Tea Party.” They aren’t interested in battling a specific group or issue. Rather, their battle is against a concept. The Left wants middle-class taxpayers to feel ashamed of protesting. After grouping everyone, they want to stigmatize and demonize any participants in order to discourage the rest. So far, the Democrats have done a fairly good job of transforming rather normal and benign protesters into radical racist rednecks in the eyes of the public.

Ultimately, I’m not sure whether the Left will succeed or not. But either way, the outcome could be bad for the country. Though cells of the Tea Party have free-market and anti-tax views, once the Republican Party tightens its grip on them, they will be used for all sorts of wicked deeds. I can easily see them showing the same fervor for war and whatever other plans the Neocons may be brewing. The Tea Party is a powerful weapon, and the Democrats know it. The movement is straight from their playbook. Depending on the holder of this weapon, the future could spell opportunity or danger for America.
By George it’s time! As candidate for Congress I’m providing you with your “weapon” which could spell opportunity for America and make the Ventura tea party and national tea party famous. I give you and the others in this group an opportunity to do something meaningful, everlasting and righteous. Accept my challenge and you may destroy the corruption, greed and waste that are in today’s government.

My challenge is this: I ask you to draft a “Contract for Congress” document. I ask you Google “Oaths of office” from around the world and put together a contract that is legally binding. The contract MUST call for the “Representative” to represent the PEOPLE, not a political party, their own self interest, and the wishes of the tea party or any other special interest group. The contract must have FINANCIAL PENALTIES for non-compliance. REMEMBER – a federal official is immune from personal liabilities so the penalties must be in the form of voluntary actions.

For example, shall the elected official vote in favor of a budget that is not balanced or does not provide for reserves the elected official shall “voluntarily” contribute $100,000.00 to a non-profit organization within the District.

Also, a must in the contract, is the establishment of a Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC) consisting of people of all parts of our district, all political parties and blind to race and religion. The group should be well balanced in order to require co-operation and must be formed independently from the Candidate.

The contract “cannot” force any of the tea party values on the candidate! It is my opinion that it doesn’t have to because the good people (are majority) are sick of our government and, without force, will help us move back to our conservative roots.

Once created, as a candidate for Congress, I will VERY publicly sign the document and call for all the other candidates to sign it. I will ask the voters not to vote for any candidate who has not signed the “Contract for Congress.” We will scrape together all the money we can to make the document VERY public for everyone to read and ask themselves “why wouldn’t my candidate sign this document – it’s great.”

Please check my website (www.uipusa.com) for ideas on what could be included in the document. I would also like to see a “no-confidence” vote included -- and the requirement for an office webcam in the elected official’s office (for all meeting with special interest groups). Setting up a district two-way communicative system to get input form our people is a must.

If you include the extensive use of newspapers, radio, TV and the internet to provide two way communications with the people of our district you might get the media to support the idea.

This idea may not get me elected but it just might save our country!

A humble servant of the people,
Darrell M. Stafford
Candidate, Congress, California’s 23rd District

Very Impressive from my standpoint. I am curious, has anything like this ever been done? Is there a template anywhere that can be used as a guide? I am sure that it would need a lawyer knowledgeable about politics to oversee and guide the final document. Are there lawyers out there in the political field that would assist in such an undertaking?
Don't they already swear to uphold the Constitution? Congress won't enforce it, so I like the idea of The People and/or an independent agency/committee doing something about breaches. I would also like a clear path for removal of ineffective legislators, similar to how we zapped Gray Davis as Governor (but unfortunately replaced him witha weak executive).
Surely the Tea Party has members who are lawyers....
The first thing we are going to be told is "It can't be done!" If we are going to fix the system we need to do those things that can't be done! With a required communicative system and a COC (Citizens' Oversight Committee) a "no confidence vote" could be done quickly and inexpensively.

If you read the oath they swear to you know why we are in trouble. No where in the oath does it state they will represent the PEOPLE and they twist and turn the "uphold the Constitution" to suit themselves. We need to spell out "HONESTY" "ETHICAL" etc. for a 3rd graders!!!

It can be done! And if necessary we can take it to the Supreme Court - which would give it so much attention ... every voter in our country would support it!

Everyone gets one shot in life to make a difference! THIS IS IT! I'll be proud to sign it and I hope Tom Watson will sign it to!

God Bless and Good Luck.
Where and how do we begin such a task? Could we begin with the oath that is currently taken by politicians and message it to include Honesty, Ethical behavior, Up Hold the Constitution as written, with a COC oversight and a "no confidence vote" inclusion??? Where can we locate a copy of the oath of political office?
What is needed is not a new oath, but enforcement of the existing one. I suggest that we provide a clear course for dealing with offending legislators. If their colleagues won't do it, then we need to be doing citizen recall elections. Adding more words like"HONESTY" and "ETHICAL" won't do the trick, but I suppose every little bit would help. I'd prefer to use [precious political capital to put teeth in a recall procedure.
