By popular demand, we created this forum to cover almost any topic your heart desires.  The Forum name, "Open Mike" refers to the tradition that some comedy and music clubs have of offering all comers the opportunity to perform live impromptu at their establishments, with any material they come up with that is consistent with the theme and policies of that organization (in our case, the Mission statement in "Read Me" section), We'll even consider stuff not consistent, if you can persuade us that changes are needed.

TERRORIST BILL AYERS and the COMMON CORE CURRICULUM

Terrorist Professor Bill Ayers and Obama’s Federal School Curriculum

EDUCATION without REPRESENTATION 101:

https://whatiscommoncore.wordpress.com/tag/communism/

Three years after the Department of Education announced a contest called Race-to-the-Top for $4.35 billion in stimulus funds, some parents, teachers, governors, and citizen and public policy groups are coming to an awful realization about the likely outcomes:
• A national curriculum called Common Core

• Regionalism, or the replacement of local governments by federally appointed bureaucrats

• A leveling of all schools to one, low national standard, and a redistribution of education funds among school districts

• An effective federal tracking of all students

• The loss of the option of avoiding the national curriculum and tests through private school and home school

Working behind the scenes, implementing these policies and writing the standards are associates from President Obama’s community organizing days. In de facto control of the education component is Linda Darling-Hammond, a radical left-wing educator and close colleague of William “Bill” Ayers, the former leader of the communist terrorist Weather Underground who became a professor of education and friend of Obama’s.

When these dangerous initiatives are implemented, there will be no escaping bad schools and a radical curriculum by moving to a good suburb, or by home schooling, or by enrolling your children in private schools.

How was it that 48 governors entered Race-to-the-Top without knowing outcomes?

It was one of the many “crises” exploited by the Obama administration. While the public was focused on a series of radical moves coming in rapid-fire succession, like the health care bill and proposed trials and imprisonment of 9/11 terrorists on domestic soil, governors, worried about keeping school doors open, signed on. Many politicians and pundits praised Obama on this singular issue, repeating the official rhetoric about raising standards.

It stands to reason, though, that education policies would be consistent with Obama’s agenda. After all, one of his most controversial associations, highlighted during the 2008 presidential campaign, was with an education professor, Bill Ayers. As a terrorist, he and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, had dedicated their Prairie Fire Manifesto to Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted assassin of Robert F. Kennedy. It was for this reason that Kennedy’s son, Christopher Kennedy, chairman of the University of Illinois board of trustees, voted against bestowing “professor emeritus” status on Ayers after he retired. “I intend to vote against conferring the honorific title of our university whose body of work includes a book dedicated in part to the man who murdered my father, Robert F. Kennedy,” he said.

THE OBAMA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: WHERE DID BILL AYERS GO?
Back then, the former bomber and co-founder of the communist terrorist Weather Underground organization was Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The two had worked together closely from the year Ayers hosted a political launch party for Obama, in 1995, to 2002. At the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, “the brainchild of Bill Ayers,” they funneled more that $100 million to radical groups like ACORN and Gamaliel, which used the funds to promote radical education.[i] This initiative was also promoted by Arne Duncan, now Secretary of Education. Also as board members of the Woods Fund, Ayers and Obama channeled money to ACORN and the Midwest Academy.

When initial White House visitor logs were released in 2009, the administration quickly dismissed speculations about visits by “William Ayers.” That was a different William Ayers Americans were told. The Obama administration is appealing an August 17 order to release the other visitor logs in response to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch and others.

Important Dates in Boston Tea Party History:

December 16th, 1773 and April 19th, 1775

December 16th, 1773:

On the cold evening of December 16, 1773, a determined group of Patriots disguised as Mohawk Indians burst from the Old South Meeting House in Boston, Massachusetts with the spirit of freedom burning in their eyes. Their destination was Griffin’s Wharf and the three British tea ships harbored there. Quickly, quietly, and orderly, the American colonists, armed with axes and hatchets, boarded each of the ships and destroyed 340 crates of British tea, defiantly dumping the precious cargo into the sea. Thousands of spectators watched in silence. Only the sounds of axe blades splitting wood rang out from Boston Harbor during that still night…the Boston Tea Party was underway and the path to revolution and freedom had begun.  Of the event, British Governor Hutchinson said, “This is the boldest stroke which has yet been struck in America… the body of people have gone too far to recede…and open and general revolt must be the consequence.”

April 19th, 1775:

The American Revolution began at about 5 AM, April 19, 1775. An army of 700 British soldiers, on a mission to capture Patriot leaders and seize a Patriot arsenal, marched into Lexington to find 77 armed Minutemen, commanded by Captain John Parker, waiting for them on the town’s green. British Major John Pitcairn ordered the outnumbered Patriots to disperse, and after a moment’s hesitation, the colonists began to drift off the green. Suddenly, the “shot heard ‘round the world” was fired from an undetermined gun, and a cloud of musket smoke soon covered the green. When the brief Battle of Lexington ended, eight colonists lay dead or dying and ten others were wounded. Only one British soldier was injured, but the American Revolution had begun.

By 1775, tensions between the American colonies and the British government approached the breaking point, especially in Massachusetts, where Patriot leaders formed a shadow revolutionary government and trained militias to prepare for armed conflict with the British troops occupying Boston. In the spring of 1775, General Thomas Gage, the British Governor of Massachusetts, received instructions from England to seize all stores of weapons and gunpowder accessible to the colonial insurgents. On April 18, he ordered British troops to march against the Patriot arsenal at Concord and capture Patriot leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock, known to be hiding in Lexington.

The Boston Patriots had been preparing for such a military action by the British. Upon learning of the details of the British plan, Patriots Paul Revere and William Dawes set out to rouse the militiamen and warn Adams and Hancock. When the British troops arrived at Lexington, a group of militiamen were waiting.  However, Sam Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere had already fled to Philadelphia.

The Bad News Just Keeps Coming for Baby Killer Wendy Davis,  It's Time Wave The White Flag.

Yesterday, the San Antonio Express-News reported that Bo Delp, the spokesman for the Wendy Davis Campaign for governor of Texas has resigned.

Delp was previously the communications manager, but was demoted from that position after the Texas state senator reorganized her communications department as her campaign faced numerous issues with Davis being caught in lies
In his resignation, Delp said, “I am proud of the work I have done, and know that my successor will continue to build on my successes, and my mistakes, to do what is necessary to win in November.” While he said he is considering numerous opportunities with the Texas Democrats, he has does not yet have a job lined up.

Davis was thrust into the limelight following her filibuster against Texas legislation that would end late –term abortions. Her strong stance in favor of abortion made her a Democrat darling and also earned her the nickname ‘Abortion Barbie.’

This latest blow to the Davis campaign for governor comes with Democrat Governors Association Chairman Peter Shumlin expressed little confidence in Davis’ ability to win the governorship of Texas. Earlier this month, a Public Policy Poll found Davis not only trailing her Republican opponent Greg Abbott by double digits, but also finding that Texas women supported Abbott over Davis for Governor.

More Liberal Intolerance unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from liberal show now narrow-mindedness and small-mindedness they are! Police Remove Traditional Marriage Group from Notre Dame University is a Catholic University.

Notre Dame University employed the police to order a group of traditional marriage advocates off its campus late last week. Volunteers with the Tradition Family Property Student Action were given permission by an official campus student group to set up a table, according to TFP director John Ritchie. The police arrived shortly after the group began handing out pro-family literature and told them to “cease and desist.”

On its website TFP Student Action claimed:

The TFP handout, 10 Reasons Why Same-Sex “Marriage” is Harmful and Must Be Opposed, was being warmly received by students and faculty members alike. However, several pro-homosexual students ripped up the flier, shouted obscenities, and expressed their desire to deprive the pro-true marriage volunteers of their right to free speech.

“I’m still trying to fully understand why the event was shut down,” said Ritchie. “I was hoping to find a more supportive environment for the Catholic position on marriage. But instead, Notre Dame police officers told us that we only had proper permission to have a table – but that nobody was allowed to actually man the table, which was the whole point of having a table in the first place. How can a table man itself? So we were forced to leave.”

Hannibal Lecter. Freddy Kreuger. Jason Voorhees. Charles Manson. Jeffrey Dahmer. Ted Bundy. Hollywood loves a homicidal monster. But what happens when an evil being exposes the monstrosities of malign government neglect and deadly ideology? Crickets.

Tinseltown couldn’t conjure a bigger nightmare than true-life Philadelphia serial killer Kermit Gosnell. He preyed on hundreds of poor minority women. He systematically executed hundreds of healthy, living, breathing, squirming, viable babies by stabbing them in their necks and severing spinal cords with scissors and knives. This twisted murderer kept baby feet in specimen jars, which he crammed into the grisly refrigerators of his filthy “clinic.” For “research.”

Governor of Maine

--- In case you haven't heard about this guy before, his name will stick in your mind! The new Maine Governor, Paul LePage is making New Jersey 's Chris Christie look timid. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Judging by the comments, every time he opens his mouth, his popularity goes up. He brought down the house at his inauguration when he shook his fist toward the media box and said, "You're on notice! I've inherited a financially troubled State to run. Observe...cover what we do...but don't whine if I don't waste time responding to your every whim just for your amusement." During his campaign for Governor, he was talking to commercial fishermen who are struggling because of federal fisheries rules. They complained that 0bama brought his family to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a long Labor Day holiday and found time to meet with union leaders, but wouldn't talk to the fishermen. LePage replied, "I'd tell him to go to hell and get out of my State." The Lame Stream Media crucified LePage, but he jumped 6 points in the pre-election poll. The Martin Luther King incident was a political sandbag, which brought him national exposure. The 'lame stream' media crucified him, but word on the street is very positive. The NAACP specifically asked LePage to spend MLK Day visiting black inmates at the Maine State Prison. He told them that he would meet with ALL inmates, regardless of race, if he were to visit the prison. The NAACP balked and then put out a news release claiming falsely that he refused to participate in any MLK events. He read it in the paper for the 1st time the next morning while being driven to an event and went ballistic because none of the reporters had called him for comment before running the NAACP release. He arrived at that event & said in front of a TV camera, "If they want to play the race card on me they can kiss my ass", and he reminded them that he has an adopted black son from Jamaica and that he attended the local MLK Breakfast every year that he was mayor of Waterville. (He started his morning there on MLK Day.) He then stated that there's a right way and a wrong way to meet with the Governor, and he put all special interests on notice that press releases, media leaks, and all demonstrations would prove to be the wrong way. He said any other group, which acted like the NAACP could expect to be at the bottom of the Governor's priority list! He then did the following, and judging from local radio talk show callers, his popularity increased even more: The State employees union complained because he waited until 3 P.M. before closing State offices and facilities and sending non-emergency personnel home during the last blizzard. The prior Governor would often close offices for the day with just a forecast before the first flakes. (Each time the State closes for snow, it costs the taxpayers about $1 million in wages for no work in return.) LePage was CEO of the Marden's chain of discount family bargain retail stores before election as governor. He noted that State employees getting off work early could still find lots of retail stores open to shop. So, he put the State employees on notice by announcing: "If Marden's is open, Maine is open!" He told State employees: "We live in Maine in the winter, for heaven's sake, and should know how to drive in it. Otherwise, apply for a State job in Florida !" Governor LePage symbolizes what America needs; Refreshing politicians who aren't self-serving and who exhibit common sense. THE LAW IS THE LAW! I really love this one. This is one of the better e-mails I have received in a long time! I hope this makes its way around the USA several times over!!!!! HERE IS WHAT Governor LaPage said, "THE LAW IS THE LAW So "if" the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it. And "if" that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it. I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have the American public's best interests at heart. BUT, he said, "YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE? Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe Government (Federal, State and Local) and its employees should participate in Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life. I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday,Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day. I'd like the" US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day. I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day. I'm thinking a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct." In fact....I think our government should work on Sundays (AFTER ALL, It was initially set aside for worshipping God) because, AFTER ALL, our government says that it should be Just ANOTHER DAY...." What do you all think???? If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent the "majority" of ALL of the American people. SO BE IT....Please Dear Lord, Give us the help needed to keep you in our country! 'Amen' and 'Amen'! If this gets around the country a few times, I believe we all will see a better day!

Police Foil California Teachers Association Takeover of Rogue Local

The Modesto Teachers Association (MTA) scheduled a vote today on whether the 1,500-member local would remain affiliated with the California Teachers Association (CTA) and the National Education Association. The state union was not pleased, but seemed resigned to the vote taking place. CTA president Dean Vogel toured the district, urging members to remain in the fold, and even was given a forum to address the local’s representatives.

But at some point the CTA board of directors decided that Modesto’s plan to abide by the will of the voting majority, instead of two-thirds of the entire bargaining unit, made the election “unlawful.” Last night the board voted to place the local under state trusteeship, and sent two trustees after business hours to take control of its offices and bank accounts.

But the MTA officers were prepared. They called the police. The Modesto Bee reports:

Some One Need To Get Professor Fired

The Shocking Warning Professor Allegedly Gave to Students Who Happen to Be ‘Ted Cruz-Supporting Teabaggers’

A UC Santa Barbara student alleges her black studies professor warned any “Ted Cruz-supporting ‘tea baggers’ to get the hell out of his classroom before he sent them home to their mother in a body bag.”

This was reportedly on the very first day of class last fall. The course, offered by Professor Otis Madison, was titled “The Obama Phenomenon.”

The student, identified as Alice Gilbert by the College Fix, says the quote is from memory but argued “there were other students with me in the class who can attest to them.”

“When Professor Madison made his comments in the very first lecture, I was taken aback and offended,” Gilbert said.

However, she claims she never complained to the university because the professor did not “target” her specifically and she wasn’t sure the school could do anything just because she was offended by something her professor said in class.

Now Gilbert is speaking out as part of the new social media campaign, “#MyLiberalCampus,” according to the College Fix.

“The effort, launched by the College Republican National Committee, strives to highlight the discrimination and intolerance conservative students face everyday on campuses nationwide. So far, more than 350,000 people have engaged in the conversation,” the report adds.

Gilbert recently appeared on “Fox and Friends” to talk about the incident:

Federal Gov’t Issues Warning to State That Wants to Opt Out of Common Core

The Obama administration has issued a clear warning to the first state to drop the Common Core State Standards.

Federal government issues warning to Indiana about opting out of Common Core

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signs legislation, Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Indiana Career Council Meeting at the Indiana State Library. Indiana is the first state to withdraw from the Common Core reading and math standards that were adopted by most states around the country. (AP Photo/The Indianapolis Star, Rob Goebel)

The U. S. Department of Education said in a letter to Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz that the state must prove its own standards are just as challenging, or else risk of losing its waiver from the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law and have its federal funding in jeopardy.

“Because the [Indiana Department of Education] will no longer implement those standards, IDOE must amend its [Elementary and Secondary Education Act] flexibility request and provide evidence that its new standards are certified by a state network of [Institutions of Higher Education] that students who meet the standards will not need remedial coursework at the postsecondary level,” the letter says.

Indiana is the first of the 44 states that adopted Common Core to repeal the controversial K-12 math and English standards.

Ritz said in a statement she is confident in the state’s new standards and said her department would “demonstrate full compliance with the flexibility waiver.”

“To address the issue of college and career-ready assessments, the department has undertaken the most extensive review and overhaul of academic standards in Indiana’s history,” Ritz said. “Moving forward, we will respond to USED within the next two months with amendments that capture steps we have taken to ensure full compliance with our flexibility waiver.”

The letter from the U.S. Education Department demonstrates “just how weak the phrases ‘state-led’ and ‘voluntary’ became when used to describe Common Core,” wrote Brittany Corona, a domestic policy researcher at the Heritage Foundation.

When the Indiana legislature passed the repeal of Common Core, the bill stated new standards would be in place by July 1, in time for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.

“The problem is that the administration does not view its new standards or testing regime as ‘meeting expectations’ – despite the fact Indiana’s pre-Common Core state standards were ranked among the highest in the nation,” Corona added.

Other Indiana education officials are concerned; Indiana State Board of Education member Brad Oliver said losing the waiver could be costly.

“Based on what I know right now, I am very concerned that our waiver could be in jeopardy,” he said. “The repercussions of losing our waiver are more than just financial. It would immediately have an impact on local districts.”

Vote NO on Prop. 41!

By Kelly R. Hubbard:

I’ve reviewed the only two propositions we’ll be voting on this June! On June 3rd, in addition to voting for candidates, we’ll have to decide whether we want to approve another Bond Measure and perhaps create a new state constitutional amendment to require local governments to pay for abiding by open-government transparency laws!  I strongly encourage you to do your own homework and review the information carefully! Read below.

PROP.41 (Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Bond Act of 2014)
This Bond Act has the emotional attachment of providing housing and services for our Veterans. Taking away the emotional aspect of this being for the benefit of our beloved Vets that we all love and admire and stipulating that we all agree that our country should supply every need for those who’ve served our country in uniform, I would like to speak just in terms of the fiscal impact of this and I would like to make the common sense argument that this should be the obligation of the federal government, NOT the state of California!
We all agree that our Veterans should be taken care of and we agree it’s a disgrace that any man or woman who has served our country in uniform would find themselves homeless! Having said that, why is the state of California picking up the slack for what the Feds, under Obama, should be doing? The obligation to tend to the needs of our disabled Veterans should solely be the obligation of the Federal Government, under the Veteran’s Administration! It’s not up to individual states to be carrying these burdens, no matter how small the fiscal impacts are to those individual states!
We need to also realize that any new Bond initiative like this is susceptible to waste and mismanagement! The state of California, especially under this current administration, has not demonstrated that they can appropriately and efficiently direct money where it needs to go! We’ve seen waste and abuse before from these Bond measures!
In addition, A Bond Measure such as this is basically borrowing money that we must eventually pay back with interest! Even though the amount is said to be around $50 million over a 15 year period and represents a very small percentage of the overall budget, the point is we’re already obligated to pay back many different Bond initiatives for many different programs and services. Do you remember the embryonic stem cell Bond? What benefit has that had for our state? As far as I’m concerned, all that initiative did was require the destruction of human life and it has amassed hundreds of millions of dollars in debt so far according to recent reports! Enough is enough!
If there is any need for our Veterans, it should be handled by the Federal government, Families, Churches, and Veteran’s Groups! States such as California shouldn’t be required to supply those needs at the expense of taxpayers!
I love our Vets just like the next guy and my late Father was a Veteran of the Air Force! I realize that this is a very unpopular position that I’m taking and this Proposition will likely pass big because of the emotional title of it being for homeless Vets, etc.!  In fact, I would be shocked if this thing doesn’t pass with at least 60% support!
Having said that, we have to draw a line in the sand on these Bond measures and look closely at the overall cost-benefit impact of each one! It’s also important to require the Feds to do their jobs and force Obama’s administration to take care of our nation’s Veterans! If there is an epidemic of homelessness and mental illness among our Vets, Obama’s administration should spend less time going after Ranchers and suing states over voter I.D. laws, and spending more time and resources tending to the needs of our military heroes!!
I recommend that you vote NO on Prop. 41!

Don- would you please also put this in reader comments for the Primary voting recommendations blog posting. More people will see it that way.

If the gun control mentality promoting fear of guns themselves becomes our national mentality, we would turn the clock back to the days when a warrior class ruled over the people because only they had the confidence and expertise to deploy the means of defense and coercion. The gun control agenda will turn us into a people too timid to defend themselves from our would-be masters. – Alan Keyes

So now that there is a new tragedy the president wants to have a “national conversation on guns”. Here’s the thing. Until this national conversation is willing to entertain allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons, then it isn’t a conversation at all, it is a lecture. – Larry Correia'

How can we stand up to someone that creates a 100 dollar Federal Reserve (FR) note for 2 cents and uses the face value of the note of 100 dollars to buy a 100 dollar U.S. Security where the government has to pay them 4% in interest at the end of the year? “Capital must protect itself in every possible way, both by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through the process of law, the common people lose their homes, they will become more docile and more easily governed through the strong arm of government applied by a central power of wealth under leading financiers. These truths are well known among our principal men who are now engaged in forming an imperialism to govern the world. By dividing the voter through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting for questions of no importance. It is thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves that which has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished.”
- President American Bankers Association, 1924

Nonetheless, in a land where every mewling babe in the American nursery is born with a debt burden of just under $200,000, the president brags that only his party is 'compassionate' to have no plan whatsoever even to attempt to do anything about this, no way, no how, not now, not ever." --columnist Mark Steyn
