I have a special request.
As a fellow Republican who cares about lower taxes, responsible spending and government reform, you and I need to offer some encouragement to our representatives.
It hasn't been easy for our Republican legislators. They've been targeted by unions, harassed by protesters, bullied by the press and blamed by the governor for the budget mess created by Sacramento Democrats.
Thankfully, they've held their ground. They've offered sensible alternatives to the Democrats' tax-and-spend budget plan that wants to burden Californians with over $50 billion in taxes to pay for a 27% increase in spending over the next three years.
Our Assembly caucus presented the Governor with a no-tax balanced budget that fully funds education, while the GOP Senate caucus gave the Governor a comprehensive list of proposals, from pension reform to spending caps to regulatory reform.
They offered real life, dollars-and-cents solutions, but all the Democrats can come up with are political solutions that protect their public union pals.
So here's my special request--let your Republican representative in the Assembly and state Senate know how much you appreciate their leadership.
Tell them that their efforts to reform California government and protect taxpayers are not going unnoticed. And that we want them to stand firm against public union pressure.
I'm providing links below to the official email address for each of our Republican representatives so you can send them a quick note of support. If you don't have a GOP legislator representing your Senate or Assembly district, then email Senate Republican Leader Bob Dutton and Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway.
While you're at it, send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and let them know that you appreciate how your representative has been standing up for the taxpayers. Click HERE to find the email address for the paper serving your region.
Thanks for helping me help our Republican leaders. A little encouragement goes a long way.
