Shining Stars v. the Dim Bulbs
Hey everyone – We don’t have to tell you that the good guys are seriously outnumbered by the dim bulbs who run the Capitol. We are going to continue to broadcast how messed up they are, but we also want to shine a light on the folks that stand up to legislative bullies.
There really are some elected officials who actually believe the issue of the 2nd Amendment is more important than global warming. Really.
Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez is one of them. In fact, her very outspoken, tough on crime attitude and fervent support of the 2nd Amendment got her bounced as Vice Chair of the Assembly Public Safety Committee. She refused to be pushed around by her sanctimonious leftist colleagues – maybe it was her time in the Navy where she became one of the first women approved to fly aboard EP-3 reconnaissance aircraft overseas, conducting reconnaissance and intelligence gathering operations. Yup – she knows a thing or two about enemy forces and she’s not afraid of take them on – foreign or domestic.
Recently, Democrats killed her bill that would have made California a “shall issue” state.
In a report to the media, Melendez said “… the Democrat majority spat in the face of the Constitution by killing this measure,” and that “The Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law, yet the current system we have for issuing CCWs in California is anything but equal. Rest assured, this fight for equality isn’t over.”
Her AB 757 sought to clarify self-defense as an acceptable justification for “good cause” in order to obtain a concealed carry permit. Makes perfect sense to us.
Melendez charged “Though the Democrat majority killed this effort, … they are unable to kill the movement we have started. We must build off of our grassroots successes and continue the fight to ensure the rights of law abiding citizens’ are upheld.”
THANK ASSEMBLYWOMAN MELENDEZ TODAY!
We are sure glad she is one of us – regardless of her bill falling victim to the ruling Democrats.
Assemblyman Travis Allen is willing to charge up the hill too – he introduced AB 1394 to require local law enforcement officials to issue licenses to concealed carry to an applicant who meets the criteria in existing law. It would not, however require a demonstration of good cause. In essence – as with the Melendez bill, he takes a slightly different route in establishing California as a “shall issue” state. It’s a tough road with a host of stumbling blocks, but Allen has pledged to move the bill forward. We will be there to fight along side him – will you? JOIN US!
We stand ready to launch criticism when necessary, and it’s too dang bad we have to do it so often. But we also need to give kudos when they are due. We appreciate the hearty souls who understand the Constitution and the gravity of what’s at stake. We owe some serious thanks to the elected officials who aren’t afraid to stay and fight in a really hot kitchen.
Please take the time to forward this and other GOC emails to friends and family. It’s the best way to stay Armed and Informed!
