Will YOU Save Freedom? Catch The Tea Party Wave

It has long been a curiosity to me as to why, as a constitutional conservative I seem to raise the ire of Republicans.  After all I reasoned, we believe in the same things, don’t we?  We feel the same about limited government and electing the best candidate to do that, yes?  We all realize that almost everything government does today violates the Constitution and we want to put a stop to that, right?  Answers; no, nope and wrong.

Constitutional conservatives realize, (not believe), that 95% of everything done by government in the last 100 years has been unconstitutional.  We also realize that our Constitution is actually a Pandora’s Box that since opened, has brought the wrath of governmental malevolence down upon every American.  There is a reason why the words ‘communism,” and “democracy,” are missing from our national and all state Constitutions.  That is because they are antithetical to EVERYTHING our Founders and their ideals represent.  A constitutionalist would see our nation administered by people who realize that the paramount duties of a republican form of government are to protect individuals and their individual liberties from all enemies both foreign and domestic.  Staunch Republicans seem to realize none of these things.  Like Democrats and Communists, they believe that the only salvation for America is in rule by them and their party.  What I refer to as a “Republican” is not necessarily a dues-paying, card-carrying member of the party but rather an automaton that can be counted upon to pull the lever for a Republican candidate no matter how awful, liberal, or crooked.  Those who vote for the likes of Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Meg Whitman, Arlen Spector come to mind.  Those “lesser of two evils” voters.

Think about this; all the damage done to America these past 100 years, the income tax, the 17th amendment, property taxes, government usurpation of education, charity, church, and states rights have been accomplished by Democrats and complicit Republicans.  Constitutional atrocities such as Medicare, socialist security, and other schemes to confiscate money from one citizen or group to bestow a small percentage of it upon another is abhorrent to a constitutionalist but encouraged by Republicans who condone a “small bit of socialism for our own good”.  What seems to be lost on Republicans is that at its core, government is basically evil and will ALWAYS seek to enslave and eventually destroy any citizens over which it can gain power or control.  The Founders knew this very well and tried their best to make it impossible for government to gain the upper hand that Democrats love and Republicans insist is necessary, needed, or eventual.  Thomas Paine said it best when he observed, “Government is at best a necessary evil, at worst, and intolerable one”.  GOVERNMENT IS EVIL!  Why would any sane person want an evil entity taking care of his mother, regulating our economy, or distributing our wealth, health, and industry?

America’s Founders wrote the Declaration of Independence as America’s mission statement, read it.  Then they wrote the Constitution for the sole purpose of preventing the new federal bureaucracy from destroying it.  That is it’s only purpose; it lays out those few enumerated things the federal government is allowed to inflict upon us.  Preference for cripples is not in there; unfair taxation is not in there nor is political correctness or OSHA.  Reading the document will not uncover any authority by federal agents to enforce any of these things.

What my Republican friends seem to refuse to realize is that The Founders changed the colonies to states because they set them up to be sovereign, independent and autonomous with the federal bureaucracy playing the role of referee and coordinator.  It was never intended to rule the lives of individual citizens.  Nor was it intended to be bastardized into imposing individual welfare when the Constitution specifically reads, “general welfare”.  When Madison wrote to “regulate commerce” he meant “to make regular” not to use it to stop commerce and use it as carte blanche to impose the federal will upon all citizens and business.  In fact, the federal delegation was to have NO impact on individual citizens at all but to simply settle differences among the sovereign states.  These premises seem lost on today’s Republicans who plead for “common sense” to let government care for us in various ways.

Think about this; how much money would you have today and how different would life be if the government had not taken up to half of all the money you have made your entire life?  And that of your parents, and grandparents, and great grandparents, and…?  How different, energetic and well-adjusted would our children be if they were raised to be self-reliant, self protective, and educated rather than indoctrinated in schools manipulated by government and unions?  Ronald Reagan said, “Government won’t solve the problem, government is the problem”.  How true, and how sad that those words of wisdom and warning seem lost on so many Republicans today.

I submit to you, Republicans and otherwise that there is NO societal problem or dilemma we suffer today that has not been caused by government; not one.  And I further maintain that there is NO problem that we can’t solve by reducing the size, cost, and influence of government.  Anyone who sees more government as the solution to ANYTHING cannot consider themselves constitutionalist or conservative.  Only a statist sees solutions in government.  Throughout history the favorite ploy of government has been to create huge problems for citizens and then offer “brilliant solutions” at the cost of some of their liberty.  The wacky idea of the 9/11 attacks being an American construct with our government stepping in to “save and protect” us with the totalitarian Patriot Act could be a graphic illustration of this ploy.

Until more people realize that our government has become our own worst, most dangerous enemy, our nation and posterity is in grave danger.  The very entity that so many rely upon for survival and assistance is what is leading to our demise and we are letting it happen.

Calling you a Progressive is not "name-calling" in a perjorative sense, but is merely attempting to classify political thought patterns, according to accepted definitions, although I accept that there is some latitude there. If you called me a "Conservative-Libertarian," that would be accurate.

    I don't like you calling me names, but I guess that what some people do in this world when presented facts. I didn't go into any great discussion about slavery in the country, or any country. I just answered a question that someone on this site asked.

 To try answer some of your questions one by one,

"We couldn't very well eliminate slavery when we were a colony, because we were ruled by Britain, remember? That's the main reason we needed a "revolution." "

I don't remember slavery being the main issue for our revolution, taxes, and being ruled by a king across the sea was the main reason as I remember from history. Is that too Progressive for you?

Our founders were unable to overcome the instiutution of slavery on day one. Do you agree that it was better to at least have a country and that we were better off for it?

Yes, I think it was better for everyone including England in the end.

Or, should we instead have remained a colony, or split off into multiple weak states that were unsustainable and could not defend themselves.

  I guess this is a question, and the answer is NO, we should have split as we did from England.

  Please cut out the name calling, I don't that helps in trying to win the hearts and minds of people. We are trying to convert people or inform them of the truth. In doing this progressive lines will sometime be crossed. However, nothing should come down to name calling when in this process.

Thanks,

Frank

Frank, you are obviously a hard left Progressive and have misrepresented yourself.

We couldn't very well eliminate slavery when we were a colony, because we were ruled by Britain, remember? That's the main reason we needed a "revolution."  Our founders were unable to overcome the instiutution of slavery on day one. Do you agree that it was better to at least have a country and that we were better off for it? Or, should we instead have remained a colony, or split off into multiple weak states that were unsustainable and could not defend themselves. Think a few moves ahead. As it is, most of the US was free and became all free before Brazil did. Brazil continued to have various forms of de facto serfdom. Some might make a case that tenant farmers and oppressed factory workers were de facto serfdom. There is some merit to that argument, but they were free to walk and try something else. Freedom has increased, more or less continuously, up until recently.

Now, we are sliding into a statist, Fascist/Socialist-like system where the people are being made dependent on the state, not something any real Tea Party members want.

Let me draw your attention to some of our guidelines which you apparently are not following (see "read me " section):

The Mission of the Ventura County Tea Party, a non-profit, non-partisan Citizen grassroots organization, is to help: restore fiscal responsibility;  effect reductions in taxes and spending of the government at the local, state, and national levels;  mobilize and empower citizens through communication, education and the use of election, initiative and petition processes; to restore free markets, personal freedoms and rights that have been diminished, due to extensive growth of government control, and its apparent  unwillingness to faithfully execute existing laws and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Goals & Objectives:

1.    Increase awareness of our Tea Party and conservative principles.

2.    Be inclusive of all fiscally conservative constituents.

3.    Make government and parties aware of our solid principles of freedom.

4.    Organize and provide education that will implement a voice in government.

5.    Motivate support  of conservative candidates and politicians who exemplify Constitutional principles.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frank, some of your previous statements have been inconsistent with those requirements and more evocative of class warfare and "Social Justice" rhetoric. There are numerous forums elsewhere for you to express yourself in that vein. We already avail ourselves of some of those, so do not need additional exposure to them. The purpose of this site is to advance our objectives.
You seem to think that our country is inherently evil and must be totally transformed. You should be supporting Obama if that's true. We, on the other hand, believe that the country is basically good, but has flaws that need correcting, using the methodology of continuous improvement,. We believe in our constitution as the backbone of the state, not as merely a suggestion to be ignored and made into a "living document" for the heat of the moment populist nonsense. Most of us also believe in God and the power of prayer. Those of us who don't, mostly respect the principles behind that and there is mutual respect for each other.  If you think you could get into that- and you're not there now-- you're welcome to try.
Frank. take a breath, and quietly try to give this some calm thought. Corporations can't be greedy for not being mortal persons they have no morality, whatsoever, only profit avarice - and not even that, since avirace itself is a moral concept.  But profit it is their very sine qua non. The multitudinous variety of enterprises, whose scope range from lemonade stands to Exon-Mobile demonstrates that their kinds, industries and market segments are diverse and innumerable.  If you disapprove of the actions or policies of any corporation take it up with its employees, officers and Board of Directors. If it breaks the law take it to court If you don't want to do that at least don't patronize it. But moaning about "corporations" as if all of them acted alike or that citizens need the tyrannical fist of the people's government to control them is cruel. Cruelty is a moral concept and you wouldn't want to be thought of advocating it in that way, would you?
How about Brazil. It became country in 1822 abolished slavery in 1888. 66 years of Slavery. This is a pretty silly statement Bobby because slavery exsisted in the Americas from as far back as the 1600's. We were not the United States of America then but we sure had slavery here on this land. So doing that math, well that comes out to over 250 years of slavery.
Can anyone name a nation with a shorter history of slavery?  Is there any country that permitted slavery that abolished it in less than the 75 years it took the US?
Can you be more specific on Corporations that are not directly involved in the crony capitalism of the Obama and previous White Houses?  GE for instance is so corrupt as a result of involvement with Obama that they should lose their corporate charter.  Warren Buffet just made his infamous pronouncement about taxing the rich while his corporation has not paid taxes since 2001.
I actually do not have blinders on regarding corporations and their many attempts to gain advantage.  It is almost always with the collusion of some government.  I have a feeling that if we are able to reform and shrink government that a whole lot of corporate reform would get rolled up in that activity.  So perhaps we are not so  far apart.  Corporations are not the primary problem, governments are and governments are a whole lot harder to change in my opinion.  Corporations are subject to the laws and the laws are a function of government.
We have to be very careful when we allow the government to limit free enterprise, what we really need is to enforce existing law while getting rid of the most onerous laws.
It would be nice if you could provide more detail examples of what you are most afraid of.  In my not so humble opinion we need to shut the Green movement down and disband the EPA and NLRB.  The Green movement has become an anti-human religion and I personally am very pro-human being one myself.  The planet has survived much worse than humans and it is not a delicate creature that needs the pathetic emotions of deranged humans to nurture it.  I don't believe in crapping our nest which is how I feel about my own home, town, state, country and planet.
That's my story and I am sticking to it...
The point being made is not whether your opinion about corporations is absolute and right , or that liberals have it all wrong . The argument is also not that corporations are all evil, greedy, environmental destructors that all ends justify the means. The main concern is to understand that despite your own personal views on both government and corporations , that Americans in general find both of equal concern. An overwhelming majority of Americans, (if you agree with them or not), feel corporations as well as the government need to have limited power. To focus and cut down one and not the other only leaves the other to run our lives unchecked. I must stress again, that this is the main concern of most Americans. I have great concern for both. I see no point in having corporations form monopolies like they did at the turn of last century. I think the government did the right thing in ending that. I also see government trying to gain too much control of our lives through things like health care, social security. Let people decide their own future without interference from anything. Both have problems and all Americans share in this concern. Turning a blind eye and not seeing this or acknowledging corporate problems really concerns me in the modern day Conservative movement.
Hi Frank,
You kind of give yourself away regarding your true feelings about our country in your first paragraph with all your code word jargon.
First of all there is no such thing as "greedy corporations"  there are only greedy people and the only way corporations accumulate wealth is by customers buying the products or services that they put on the market.  Our free market capitalism has been perverted by government at every point.  Corporations gain advantage through the activities of lobbyists who petition the GOVERNMENT for special favors or treatment.
Consumers have the most powerful right in the world and that is to choose NOT TO BUY the corporations products.  When corporations lie to their customers they are breaking the law and customers can seek redress (can you spell "trial lawyers").
The US Government is bigger than it has ever been today and spends more money and makes more law and regulations than any other time in history.  Be honest when you look around and answer the question: "How's that working out for you"
If this is the food your thought lives on things must be getting pretty thin lately.
