The responses received from patriots concerning my last article, “To Paul or Not to Paul?” were voluminous and appreciated, thanks in no small part to my Tea Party leader friend Marc who forwarded it all over creation. It is always enjoyable hearing the opinions and viewpoints of those I reach, thank you. Many who have met me know I’ve never been a Ron Paul fan but I’m no Paul-hater either. Due to some of your feedback and issues arising in the media and elsewhere, I seem to be developing clarity about this candidate that is worth sharing.
Consider me a talk radio junkie. Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, and locally, John & Ken, and sometimes Bill Handle or Bill Carroll all contribute to my ongoing education. On Thursday, Mark Davis filled in for Rush. I listened to Mark in the early ‘90s when he was on WMAL in D.C. Since his move to Arlington TX I rarely hear him for obvious reasons. He is very similar to Hannity in that he is as conservative as the status quo will permit and is the consummate Republican suck-up. No thinking outside the lines of convention.
Mark opened the show with going over the list of Republican candidates as he is permitted to list them. Of course that means mentioning liberal Romney, Perry, and even far-left wing enviro-wacko, Huntsman. It also meant naming Gingrich, and made sure we bear in mind that Santorum is still hanging in there and very conservative. His obvious failure to even mention Ron Paul amongst the candidates was deafening. Oh, sure, later in the program he took the time to demean Paul and those who would support him, but remained predictable on the matter. Noticing how so many others, including those mentioned above have maligned, ignored, bashed, and excluded Ron Paul as a serious candidate really has me thinking that this must be the very man we need to help us off this “road to serfdom”.
So why is the establishment forbidden to acknowledge, much less condone or accept Ron Paul as a candidate many voters want? They must find him very dangerous to the status quo. And isn’t that what we want? Isn’t that what America needs? How are these “business-as-usual/go-alongers” workin’ for us? People claim that in all his years in office Paul has done little or nothing of value. Well I would counter that over the past 50 years our government has done very little, percentage-wise, that is of positive value to most productive Americans. Since practically everything our government does is unconstitutional, why would anyone want them doing more of it? Can anyone honestly name one Republican, Democrat, or Communist elected to Washington that is not for bigger government and refused to go along with bills that infringe upon our “unalienable” rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness besides Ron Paul? Has he not been a latter day example of America’s Founders? He is now moving so far ahead in the polls that even the state-run media feel the need to join in the attacks.
I joined and contributed to Herman Cain’s campaign when it became apparent that he posed the greatest threat to the Democrat/Media Complex. Is that reason enough to support Paul now that he is the number 1 threat to the establishments of both sides? Absolutely. Four years ago we could have chosen among some very dedicated, patriotic men to run, and probably win that election. Instead, this same media establishment chose the worst of all possible candidates as the Republican nominee. How’d that work out for us then? Do we let the same thing happen again? They are showing us their Achilles heel and it is the nomination of a constitutionalist. Make no mistake, all the Republobots on the air and off will dutifully fall in line behind the Republican nominee EVEN IF IT IS RON PAUL WHOM THEY CURRENTLY SHUN. You can count on it. We can win this thing and put a constitutionalist in the White House for once in our lifetimes.
Ron Paul is no perfect candidate by any means. But he leads in polls and certainly leads in donations so it sure looks like he is at least the peoples’ imperfect candidate. Something Rush has repeated is that the Republican establishment would rather lose with a liberal nominee than win with a conservative or constitutionalist one. At the end of the day, the Republicrat duopoly wants big government, complicated taxes, foreign entanglements, UN approval, centralized government power, and a controlled populace. Do you? Neither does Ron Paul.
