The Tea Party movement has taken the nation by storm, in spite of attempts by the media and establishment to first ignore it, then dismiss it and now use all the tools in their Alinsky toolbox against it.  Initially protesting high taxes, spending and bailouts, it is maturing into a political movement that advocates a return to a constitutional republic, fiscal prudence and restoration of liberties.

What a day! The Tea Party presence has dramatically changed the political landscape of this great nation. One caution, however. We have won the battle, but the war is far from over. We need to keep up the intensity, follow the issues of the new Congress, and continue to hold our representatives accountable. I watched Glenn Becks program today about George Soros. Many might think that what he wants the planet to look like is far fetched. However, I worry that it might be true. (Any that haven't watched this week's programs, should) Just over a year ago, after the stimulus bill, I asked the retorical question to my wife, "Why would they be doing the same things that have been proven to fail everywhere it has been tried?" The only answer I can come up with is that the destruction of this country is a big part of the plan. This is the only way that global distribution of wealth can be achieve. While the many out there believe that the US is the demon, few acknowledge that we are always the first to run into a burning building to save those inside. This country has always been the first to arrive on the scene of any disaster with the most resources and personell, a large portion coming from the private sector. We need to stop those who insist on apologizing for this country. This is the greatest country in the history of mankind, largely due to the fact that we have (even though it is under constant attack) a system that has rewarded innovation which has literally changed the world, plus we have a country where the majority of its citizens still have a strong belief in what is right, and have the courage to fight and die for that belief. Those who want to distroy us are about to find out that this belief will not be extinguished and we will prevail. God bless the United States of America!
What the Tea Party, nay all Americans, should be doing in 2011 is watching and noting the actions of their representatives. 2012 will come and it will be important to select those incumbents to support and those to throw out.

Based on what I have seen of the lame duck session so far we have voiced our objections but not been heard by enough of our representatives to change things in Washington. To make a difference we must remain vigilant and energized.

This is our Country and we are not about to go back to ground. We have made a good start at retaking America but it is only that; a start!
That includes Republicans as well as Democrats. The 2012 primaries will be critical. Look at how many Republicans voted for S510, confirmed Sotomayer, Kagan, Geithner, Bernnake, etc.

 Are we supposed to be crying because everyone doesn’t love us?

The Tea Party(s) didn’t even exist two years ago, but now is (are) the most important political movement in the nation, eclipsing the two largest parties in mindshare and crowding out some attention for the Progressive movement.

Not everyone is a big fan yet (nor will they ever be), because:

- All new ideas take time to germinate, spread, improve and finally be accepted by a critical mass of people. We have done amazingly well so far.

- Some people simply don’t agree with what we are doing and fervently believe that the US Constitution is obsolete, if it was ever even relevant, that progressivism is the way to go and that we are dangerous reactionaries, clinging to to guns, God, nativism and racism.

- Our opponents truly hate and fear us, are entrenched, very well-organized and well funded. They have launched and sustained an incredible media blitz against us and enlisted the aid of the left wing parties, PAC’s, think tanks, ACORN-type organizations, unions and even the NAACP. Of course that is going to have an effect on public opinion and it is very heartening that we are doing as well as we are.

- Even people who should be with us, such as many in the Republican Party, see us as a threat, trying to take over their party and end their comfortable RINO life of mediocrity, compromise to Progressive ideals and corruption.

IF your goal is to be loved by all, you’re in the wrong movement. Just follow your moral compass and don’t let the bastards wear you down !

 
I have to agree with you as far as being concerned about popularity.  If you decide to get involved in a tea party...don't expect folks to have much respect for you.  My husband has gone into our farmer's market in our town & b/c he was wearing a tea party hat, some woman went completely ballistic.  She was screaming that he belonged to the "crazy people in the tea party group" & the gentleman who was in charge came over & asked him to leave b/c "he" was causing a disruption.  I have a tea party shirt & have been tempted to wear it to different events in our town...but some of these folks are not those who I would choose as friends.  I have a friend who is involved in our tea party group & her neighbors have stopped talking to her b/c they found out that she belonged to a tea party group in our town.  I think that one has to have thick skin if they do belong to a tea party.  One cannot expect to be too popular.  IMHO, that's okay b/c I believe in what we are doing & I plan to make a difference in what is going to happen in our government.  It may not be until 2012 b/c I feel that most people are ready for a fight.  However, once 2012 comes & we are able to vote in a Republican & vote OUT the Emperor...then we can go from there.  As far as I'm concerned, our work as a tea party will never be done.  After the election in Nov of 2010, we saw a reduction in the people who attended our meetings.  I think that they thought that everything was over with & that was hardly the case.  Even though we are not a party per se, we still have work to do when it comes to getting this country back to the way that it was years ago.  As far as I'm concerned, this may not even happen during my lifetime, but I intend on devoting any time which I can to our country & the tea party...no matter where we might be at that time.  And I certainly will not win any popularity contests.  I guess some would care...but I just want to make sure that the young people in the years to come will not be facing what our present government is trying to do to our country.

I would like to respond with some quotes. I don't believe that my opinion rules supreme or should be counted without some form of reference to those who have penned the documents that established our purpose and design as a nation. So, I would like to employ the words of Andrew Jackson who said, "Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in."

What a great wealth of information we have in the history of our nation. However, when used to establish some agenda, it is often misquoted or abused in definition. The establishment would like us to think that they are the only people who understand what our framers meant. The articles were not penned in words that were uncommon in their times and to understand them, all we need to do is look at the context of what they are saying, develop an understanding of common language of that period, and look at the framers own writing pertaining to the documents penned. When we have a firm understanding of those three things, we can fully understand what the documents mean. YES, we need to be educated, but not as the establishment has purposed for the contemporary times, but, in fact, in the proper use of language over the last 2 centuries. This means RESEARCH.

If in fact we are abused in our rights, liberties, and freedoms, then we MUST take action. But what action should be taken?

 

James Madison once said, "Knowledge will forever govern ignorance;and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives."

 

We can't continue to just believe the popular consensus on what we are to be. We need to become aware of all that would free us from the coming and current oppressions. By finding the facts and obtaining the context of why each article was penned in the Constitution, we arm ourselves with the right weapons to free ourselves from those who would subjugate us. It was written in a time when we are casting off oppression. What kind of oppression? In what ways manifested? How did they do it? Why did they do it? At what point did they do it? And how did they act in the aftermath of the events? these all play a part in the knowledge of why this was written in the way it was written and will enlighten us to our current issues as well as give us the power to cast off such oppressions again.

These are the words of those who went before us. They are the definers of the Documents that establish us as a nation. If you listen to them, what they say, you can better understand what they mean when they list each and every scribble of the Bill of Rights and The Constitution of these United States of America.

 

Which of you was here to feel the steel of King George? Who among us was here when the Red Coats harbored military units in private homes? Which of us lost a neighbor for the principals of Liberty at Valley Forge? Since we are so far into the future, the context is slowly being lost and requires our diligence to understanding.

 

So, what do I think that the Tea Party's role is? Let us educate the masses. Let us be the teachers in the public schools. Let us take the offices that we can make a stand for the people. Let us be the mainstream entertainers who influence our populace. This is the Tea Party, not just some club for people to grumble about their situation, but a People United together against Oppression and Tyranny from an over-controlling government who would take the food out of the mouth of our children to propagate wars all over the world and to spread the Empire to the ends of the earth.

 

We need people of every age, race, denomination, creed and culture to say, I Am ME, and yet together WE THE PEOPLE!

 

I should have no need to recite the Bill of Right or Declaration of Independence, however, these are NOT taught in our schools but in limited form so that teachers can say that they have done it rather than really educating our young to be vigilant against oppression. We have lost sight of who we are as Americans. We have lost touch with the blood that was spilled right here on this land that would secure all the liberties and freedoms that we have had. Let us always remember those who fought, bled or died on American soil for those rights.

 

Let it never be said that America has become subject to any empire, whether installed from without or within.

The Book "5000 Year Leap" by W. Cleon Skousen gives a great deal of Historical information about the formation of our Republic.  It is worth reading and a great resource.

You are welcome... obviously it's just a small tidbit of the information that is out there to be discovered and to really get to know it all is a full time job in and of itself. That is why I am a big proponent of organizing study parties so that we can all have a strong understanding of what we should know about the country we live in.

 

With study parties, an assignment can be given to several people to study sections of a document and to find resources that define that section from Historicity, Copious notes of the writers, journals and reference guides. When we assemble, each person would lead us all through what they have learned and we all get a deeper understanding. In such a way as this, we quickly find out what we should know and even surpass that of those who presume to know that sit on the thrones of this government.

 

With the ammunition of an education, we will find them disarmed.

I haven't read that one yet but one that sounds similar that was very enlightening for me was "The Patriots's History of the United States"  I learned about the many falsehoods we have been taught plus many parts of history that we were never presented with.
