Will YOU Save Freedom? Catch The Tea Party Wave

"The penalty for not participating in politics is to be governed by your inferiors." - Plato

The Presidency is the big political prize. With the worst "president" ever as the incumbent, who is already campaigning, you would think he is in deep trouble, but he could actually win, especially if the GOP fumbles-- and they did.

Looks like we have Barack Hussein Obama-Soetoro-Soebarkah-Bounel back and he will be much worse the second time around, full of himself, arrogant, spoiling for revenge, no more elections, "flexibility" for Vladmir, making energy prices "skyrocket," increasing Socialism, deploying Czars, borrowing, spending, QE, taxes,Supreme Court "Justices," especially if the Senate rolls over like last term.

For all practical purposes, we are down to only two viable candidates, AKA Obama and Romney. The battle is on.

Mitt Romney, Nominated by GOP 8-28-12

Mitt Picks Paul Ryan for VP

Gary Johnson, Libertarian Nominee

Ed Noonan, CA AIP Nominee

A stacked AIP convention ignored the will of the voters and picked Tom Hoefling as its nominee. Why should they be any different from the Republicrats?

- Mitt Romney- W- Bright, highly successful businessman/consultant, Romneycare issue, baggage, flip-flopped on choice, cap/trade, amnesty, now denying "warming," or is he? Opposes SB1070, RINO. Polling well. Choice of GOP hierarchy. Possible eligibility questions. Won NH, 2nd in SC. Won FL big.  CA Nominee and national nominee as of 8-28-12- Congrats!

- Gary Johnson- W- Former successful businessman (construction), 2-time former New Mexico Governor, anti-tax, anti-bureaucracy, Libertarian, pro-choice, more, more, more. Barred from debates. Left GOP to run as Libertarian. CA Nominee and national nominee- Congrats!

- Ed Noonan-W- American Independent Party. Constitutional Conservative. Challenges Obama's eligibility. Shares some of Ron Paul's monetary policy views, but more Conservative overall.  CA AIP Nominee- Congrats!

- Laurie Roth-W- American Independent Party- Singer, songwriter, talk show hostess (IRN-USA), actively challenges Obama's eligibility, work to make America energy independent, stop drug trade, go to only 2% consumption tax.

- John Dummett- W- CA govt. programmer, doesn't seem to have many qualifications, except common sense and intelligence, which I suppose puts him ahead of the incumbent, whose eligibility he actively  challenges, along with the 16th Amendment.

As far as I know, this only includes Republican and Democrat nominees.- G.M.

So, we're down to Romney. John Dummett is still running, but the big parties and media will make sure you don't hear much about him.  The third party candidates lack money, support and publicity to do much. Cody Robert Judy is the only opposition Democrat running with any visibility at all, but not TV or debates. Instead, he is more in the courts, suing Obama over his ineligibility to run, as are candidates such as Ed Noonan (AIP), Laurie Roth (I).  Republicans are eerily silent about that 300 lb. gorilla. even with very strong evidence to back it up. Unfortunately, millions are expected not to vote over their dissatisfaction with Progressive Republican nominee Romney. We caution you about that. PLEASE consider the alternative.  Are you willing to put an ineligible incumbent back in office to make your point?

My point exactly. We must get behind the GOP ticket and make it happen. To delude ourselves into thinking a vote for another candidate is principled would be a very big mistake this year. Every vote is going to count (except here in California I should point out). So if you know an out-of-state voter who is on the fence or leaning toward a third party candidate, please let them know just how important the election is.

True:  You can vote your conscience in CA this year, because Obama's gonna win and all electoral votes will accrue to him anyway. Therefore, you have the luxury of a true protest vote without cost, although it will affect the popular vote total.

All this over a candidate who would increase spending by 3% instead of Obama & Co. 4+%.

MRC Alert Special: Latest Notable Quotables

As a bonus for CyberAlert subscribers, below is the text of the August 20 edition of Notable Quotables, the MRC's bi-weekly compilation of the latest outrageous, sometimes humorous, quotes in the liberal media. It was compiled by the MRC's Rich Noyes.

Highlights from this issue: This was not a week for subtlety, as the liberal media greeted newly-minted GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan by screeching about how he will supposedly "slash" the federal budget, with columnists slamming him as a "zombie-eyed granny starver" who would "rain misery upon the heads of millions of Americans." Meanwhile, MSNBC ramped up the hysteria about a potential repeal of ObamaCare, insisting that if Mitt Romney is elected, "a lot of people will die."

At the same time, Joe Biden's comment to a largely black audience that Romney would "put ya'll back in chains," was cast as just a harmless metaphor. "I'm not even sure it had anything to do with race," Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Cynthia Tucker announced on Hardball. Those, plus 16 other quotes in this edition of Notable Quotables.

Now the quotes featured in the August 20 Notable Quotables, Vol. 25; No. 17:

Journalists Falsely Portray Paul Ryan as Budget "Slasher"

"New battle lines have been drawn after Mitt Romney chose conservative Congressman and budget slasher Paul Ryan as his running mate."
— Co-host Bianna Golodryga on ABC's Good Morning America, August 12.

"Ryan is the Republican with a plan to slash government spending by trillions of dollars, including politically dangerous changes to Medicare."
— ABC's Jonathan Karl on World News, August 11.

"The selection of Ryan, the architect of a politically polarizing budget plan to slash trillions in federal funding, including cuts to Medicare, has set a clear contrast between the two tickets."
— NBC's Peter Alexander on Today, August 13.

"He really slashes into social programs, and — I mean, it's across the board — in order to try to get this budget back into balance."
— Face the Nation moderator Bob Schieffer on CBS This Morning, August 13. Under Ryan's budget, federal spending actually increases, albeit at a slower rate than under Obama, from $3.6 to $4.9 trillion, over the next 10 years.

...While Carefully Shielding Obama — His "Cuts" Aren't Cuts At All

"Republicans are pushing back by attacking the President for what they say were his cuts to Medicare in 2010 to pay for his health care overhaul....But Medicare was never cut. The cost of the program continues to rise, just at a slower pace. But when it comes to the politics of Medicare, the first victim is nuance."
— Correspondent Chuck Todd on the NBC Nightly News, August 13.

A "Zombie-Eyed Granny Starver," "Screwing" the Poor

[VIDEO] "When he comes out with his budget that basically gives a great break to the richest people in the country, and really screws the people who desperately need Medicare and programs like that? What do you ask him? 'How can you do this? How can you reward rich people, who already have all these breaks in this country, and hurt the people that have no breaks?'"
— Host Chris Matthews to Rep. Chris van Hollen (D-MD) on Hardball, August 11, just hours after Ryan was selected as the Republican vice presidential nominee.

"In his decision to make Paul Ryan, the zombie-eyed granny-starver from Wisconsin, his running mate, Romney finally surrendered the tattered remnants of his soul not only to the extreme base of his party, but also to extremist economic policies, and to an extremist view of the country he seeks to lead...Paul Ryan is an authentically dangerous zealot. He does not want to reform entitlements. He wants to eliminate them.... He is a smiling, aw-shucks murderer of opportunity, a creator of dystopias in which he never will have to live."
— Esquire's Charles Pierce, a former Boston Globe Magazine writer, in an August 11 posting, "Paul Ryan: Murderer of Opportunity, Political Coward, Candidate for Vice President of the United States."

"I'd been wondering how long it would take Republicans to realize that Paul Ryan is their guy....Who better to rain misery upon the heads of millions of Americans? He's Scrooge disguised as a Pickwick, an ideologue disguised as a wonk. Not since Ronald Reagan tried to cut the budget by categorizing ketchup and relish as vegetables has the G.O.P. managed to find such an attractive vessel to mask harsh policies with a smiling face....Ryan should stop being so lovable. People who intend to hurt other people should wipe the smile off their faces."
— New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, August 15.

Chris Gets Giddy Over Nasty "Granny Off the Cliff" Ad

[VIDEO] "Let me show you the ad that I have to like the most in this campaign. It's an ad that has a familiar look to it. Let's take a look at the granny off the cliff ad for a second....Here is a party that believes this stuff: Incentivize the rich, screw the poor, and screw older people who don't have much to defend themselves with. It is true. It's not just party rhetoric. It is true."
— Chris Matthews to Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) on Hardball, August 13, talking about an ad showing a Ryan lookalike pushing an elderly woman off a cliff.

Typical MSNBC Subtlety: Vote for Romney and "a Lot of People Will Die"

"What the press should be focused on is what are the consequences of repeal of ObamaCare. And the consequences, as Mike [Kinsley] just indicated, are death. Repeal equals death. People will die in the United States if ObamaCare is repealed. That is not an exaggeration. That is not crying fire. It's a simple fact....They [the Obama campaign] need to move on to a debate about the main issue, which is ObamaCare. And they can bring death into the conversation and say, ' No, we're not calling Mitt Romney a murderer. What we are saying is that if he's elected President, a lot of people will die.'"
— Former Newsweek senior editor Jonathan Alter, now an MSNBC political analyst, on The Ed Show, August 9.

Ryan Could Be "More Trouble than Tom Eagleton"

[VIDEO] "This guy could be worse than Quayle, more trouble than Tom Eagleton, because this time, the presidential candidate and his team knew the weakness, saw the trouble they were walking into before they walked into it. And that's not the best argument for Mr. Romney's business acumen. This may be the worst merger since AOL bought Time Warner."
— Chris Matthews on MSNBC's Hardball, August 14. In 1972, Eagleton was replaced after 18 days as George McGovern's running mate for failing to disclose his history with mental illness.

Fearing "Conservative" Ryan Will Be "Immovable Object"

"I've heard Paul Ryan described as a true conservative....Do you honestly think he is someone who will work and reach across the aisle to Democrats, or will he be an immovable object on key social issues and issues of ideology?"
— Host Matt Lauer to Newt Gingrich on NBC's Today, August 14.

CBS Lobbies Romney & Ryan to Raise Taxes

"You said yesterday, I'm going to quote you, Mr. Ryan, ' America is a place where if you work hard, and play by the rules, you can get ahead.' But the fact is, a lot of people don't think that's true anymore. They don't think the rules are fair. They think corporations and rich people are getting all these breaks and they're getting stuck with paying the bills. They see some of the wealthiest paying the lowest tax rates. How are you going to fix that?...Doesn't fairness dictate that the wealthiest people should not be paying the lowest taxes because that's what happening many times?"
— CBS's Bob Schieffer interviewing Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan on 60 Minutes, August 12.

We Need a Moderator Who'll Spread Liberal Feminist Talking Points

"Romney wants to make abortions illegal, he wants to kill Planned Parenthood, he wants to repeal health care on day one — this election in particular has so many issues that matter not just to women, but to families. It's critically important that a woman be a moderator, and be able to ask woman questions, family questions."
— Ex-ABC News anchor and 1992 debate moderator Carole Simpson, as quoted by Politico's Dylan Byers, August 10.

Voter ID Laws: Are Racists Just Out to Get Obama?

[VIDEO] "With America's first black President up for reelection this November, the conversation about voting rights has been reignited. Thirty states are currently enforcing some form of voter ID law, which many civil rights advocates say is an effort to suppress the minority vote....Do you think that having an African-American President is actually reigniting some of these old prejudices?"
— CNN's Zoraida Sambolin to Carter-era UN Ambassador Andrew Young on Starting Point, August 6.

Excusing Joe Biden's "He'll Put Ya'll in Chains" Attack

[VIDEO] Host Chris Matthews: "Obviously it was reference to slavery, historically. But I think of all of the code they have used on the other side about food stamps and welfare and welfare queens and all, it seems to be that's a negative reference to slavery and to black folk. Whereas Biden, maybe he is trying too hard to get the support of black people, but he's not using negative slurs in doing it. He is making a historic reference, he may not have been right to do. But it certainly wasn't malignant like the other stuff we get. That's my view. What's yours?"
Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Cynthia Tucker: "Well, not only was it not malignant, Chris, I'm not even sure it had any, anything to do with race."
— MSNBC's Hardball, August 15.

Why Doubt "Honorable" Harry on Romney Tax Charge?

[VIDEO] Fill-in host Candy Crowley: "Before we turn this into a Harry Reid bashing, let me just say we don't know. He says — he's an honorable man, he says that he was told by someone at Bain that Mitt Romney did not pay taxes. Now, we've heard Mitt Romney, an honorable man, say I did pay taxes. But, Governor, there's a way to fix this."
Former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu: "Yeah. I know. Harry Reid probably heard it from the mirror when he was shaving."
Crowley: "Nonetheless, do you wish this conversation would go away? If you want to talk about the economy, wouldn't the conversation about Mitt Romney's tax returns go away if he just put them out there?"
— Exchange on CNN's Situation Room, August 3.

vs.

"Harry Reid is a disgrace. But you expect this from Harry Reid, right? He does this kind of thing....But I saw another network anchor ask a Romney supporter about this accusation, saying ' Harry Reid is a really honorable man. You should answer this. And by the way, there's one way to settle this question and that's for Mitt Romney to put his taxes out.' That is exactly what that kind of a baseless, absurd charge is going to bring about and he's having to answer questions about it all day. It's ridiculous."
— The Weekly Standard's Steve Hayes about an hour later on FNC's Special Report with Bret Baier.

This Just In from the Obama Broadcasting Company

"One more note on things political. Knowing a hot product when he sees one, the President today visited the U.S. Olympic training facility in Colorado. Promptly took his shoes off, got on the mat, and said his grandmother would be proud there were no holes in his socks."
— Anchor Brian Williams on the NBC Nightly News, August 9.

Times Touts Obama's Criticism of Media's "False Balance"

"While former President George W. Bush and his aides liked to say they ignored the Fourth Estate, Mr. Obama is an avid consumer of political news and commentary. But in his informal role as news media critic in chief, he developed a detailed critique of modern news coverage that he regularly expresses to those around him....In private meetings with columnists, he has talked about the concept of ' false balance' — that reporters should not give equal weight to both sides of an argument when one side is factually incorrect. He frequently cites the coverage of health care and the stimulus package as examples, according to aides familiar with the meetings."
— New York Times correspondent Amy Chozick, August 8.

Class Warfare in 2012. Ho, Ho, Ho

http://lewrockwell.com/north/north1188.html

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2012/08/22/who_is_paul_ry...

I wanted to like Paul Ryan.

Before he was nationally known, Rep. Ryan visited me at ABC, and we went to lunch. He was terrific. He was a rare politician, one who actually cared about America's coming debt crisis and the unfairness of entitlements. He even talked about F.A. Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom"! If only more politicians thought that way.

But then the housing bubble burst. Ryan voted for TARP. Then he voted for the auto bailout. Who is this guy? I thought he believed in markets!

At Fox, when I got my own TV show, I asked him about that.

"I voted for TARP because I believed we were going to fall into a deflationary spiral, the economy was going to collapse. ... The purpose of voting for that auto bill was to prevent the auto companies from getting TARP dollars. ... Now TARP has become this revolving government slush fund. Never was intended ... ."

But in your ideal world, should government have bailed out the auto company?

"No."

Whew.

I wish he had voted against those bills, but the political class was in near panic, and Ryan is a politician.

It's a reason I don't like politicians.

But at least Ryan speaks against bailouts now.

"We're reaching a tipping point in this country where a majority of Americans are getting their benefits and livelihoods from the federal government ... .

Why does this put us on a road to "serfdom"?

"Because we're moving from a society where the goal of government is not to equalize opportunity but to equalize the results of our lives. ... The more we ask government to do for us, the more government can take from us. ... Government is doing so much in our lives that we have less freedom to govern ourselves."

I like hearing a politician say that.

I told Ryan that I fear that most Americans don't understand economics and actually prefer a government that "takes care" of us.

"No. I think people believe in the American idea, (that) our rights don't come from government. ... And so we do not want a government where they give us our rights and redistribute, regulate and ration our rights."

Hope he's right.

In 2008, Ryan proposed a "Roadmap for the Future," a budget plan that would slow the growth of government. It was timid. It wouldn't eliminate the Education Department or other useless government agencies and wouldn't balance the budget for decades.

Yet even Republicans said his plan was too radical. Newt Gingrich called it "right-wing social engineering."

Last year, I invited Ryan back on my show to talk about that. By then, "the needle had moved." Ryan's Roadmap helped change the discussion. Many Republicans woke up. Newt apologized for his comment. The Republican Study Committee proposed bigger cuts.

Now, said Ryan, "I would call (my plan) mild. I was trying to get consensus. We've moved the center of gravity. We've taken on what they call the third rail, these entitlement programs which are the big drivers of our debt. We showed the country that there is a different way to go and that we can get back toward limited government, economic freedom. And I feel pretty good where we are and how we brought this conversation forward."

He should feel good. For 50 years, the needle did not move at all. Americans accepted the growth of the welfare state. Now, more understand.

"We have one more opportunity in this country. ... It is not too late to revive and reapply the American idea. But there will come a point where that moment might pass us."

Countries can get off the road to serfdom. Canada did it and prospered because of it. It won't be easy for America, but if we do it, Paul Ryan deserves much of the credit.

"What I've learned in southern Wisconsin (is that) people are ready to be talked to like adults, not like children. And they know we're in a debt crisis."

Hope he's right.

Doing business the Mormon way

What?  CBS being favorable about Romney?

I have no clue why you would think I'm doing anything but supporting Romney 200% at this point. I thought the article was supportive since I've seen some negativity toward Ryan's record.

TAMPA, Florida -- Thousands of die-hard Ron Paul supporters paid no heed to Tropical Storm Isaac on Sunday and held a marathon rally in Tampa to celebrate the 77-year-old congressman, who gave a farewell speech of more than an hour about his libertarian views.

As Republican National Committee officials scrambled to adjust the storm-shortened schedule for this week's convention to nominate Mitt Romney for president, Paul followers gathered across town at the University of Southern Florida's Sun Dome.

Paul, who is retiring from Congress this year after a colorful career and three failed White House runs, looked embarrassed as he got a prolonged standing ovation from an ear-splitting crowd as music thumped "Ron Paul, Ron Paul" in the background.

Paul, who is retiring from Congress this year after a colorful career and three failed White House runs, looked embarrassed as he got a prolonged standing ovation from an ear-splitting crowd as music thumped "Ron Paul, Ron Paul" in the background.

He praised his supporters for backing his vision of reduced government and increased personal liberties and urged them to continue the movement even now that his presidential bid had ended.

"The convention is very important this week. ... (But) there's something even more important than all that and that is the cause that we're leading, the cause for liberty and the attention that we're getting right now," said the Texas congressman.

In his last speech of the long campaign season, Paul gave a rambling, 65-minute discourse that jumped from one topic to another and made reference to novels and history. But the crowd stayed engaged, chanting "President Paul, President Paul" and cheering his belief government should be cut.

Filling seats up to the basketball arena's rafters, the sign-waving crowd had already spent most of the five hours before Paul spoke listening to speakers bashing mainstream Republicans, the Federal Reserve and calling for an end to U.S. military involvement overseas.

A favored topic was getting rid of the Federal Reserve Bank. South Carolina state Sen. Tom Davis got the crowd revved up into a frenzy when he criticized the central bank chairman. "Ben Bernanke is a traitor and a dictator," Davis said to roars from the crowd as they stood and stomped on the floor.

Paul told The New York Times this weekend that he was not speaking at the convention because he did not want to give Romney a full-fledged endorsement. His son Rand, a U.S. senator from Kentucky who is seen as the future of the "Ron Paul Revolution," is speaking at the convention and has supported Romney.

Republican officials and the Romney campaign were worried that Paul's often-rebellious supporters would stage an unlikely attempt to have him nominated at the convention, and distract attention from the party's message of defeating President Barack Obama on November 6.

But Paul backers, a unique combination of conservatives, the young, retired members of the military and independents, have been placated in part by the party putting ideas like an audit of the Federal Reserve -- something he has long supported -- onto the party platform.

Nevertheless, Paul and several of the rally's speakers Sunday afternoon blasted the national committee for changing rules to make it tougher for an outsider like him to get delegates to become a candidate with a realistic chance of advancing in the nominating process.

Paul failed to win any states in this year's Republican primary and caucuses votes but gathered up to 200 delegates, enough to cause disruption at the convention.

Paul's message of sharply reducing the role of government, scrapping the Federal Reserve and ending the U.S. military presence overseas resonated this election cycle more than in previous years. It was seen as attractive to conservatives and some disillusioned Democrats in times of a deep budget deficit and war weariness.

Paul joked about not being asked to speak at the convention.

"Today I was very excited. I got a call from the RNC," he said. "They said they changed their mind. They were going to give me a whole hour and I could say anything I want -- tomorrow night."

He paused to let the crowd realize convention events had been canceled for Monday night because of Tropical Storm Isaac. Then he said: "Just kidding, just kidding."

“The States then being the parties to the constitutional compact, and in their sovereign capacity, it follows of necessity, that there can be no tribunal above their authority, to decide in the last resort, whether the compact made by them be violated; and consequently that as the parties to it, they must themselves decide in the last resort, such questions as may be of sufficient magnitude to require their interposition.” – James Madison

Only in America could liberals talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.

We need to demythologize guns before the liberal attempt to create a totemic fear of them succeeds. If the gun control mentality promoting fear of guns themselves becomes our national mentality, we would turn the clock back to the days when a warrior class ruled over the people because only they had the confidence and expertise to deploy the means of defense and coercion. The gun control agenda will turn us into a people too timid to defend themselves from our would-be masters. – Alan Keyes

How can we stand up to someone that creates a 100 dollar Federal Reserve (FR) note for 2 cents and uses the face value of the note of 100 dollars to buy a 100 dollar U.S. Security where the government has to pay them 4% in interest at the end of the year?
