The Forum name, "Open Mike" refers to the tradition that some comedy and music clubs have of offering all comers the opportunity to perform live impromptu at their establishments, with any material they come up with that is consistent with the theme and policies of that organization (in our case, the Mission statement in "Read Me" section), We'll even consider stuff not consistent, if you can persuade us that changes are needed.

Last Train for the Coast Howard Katz tells you that everything you have ever learned about economics is a lie. Probably true. Don't believe me? Think back to your economics courses, what the media have been telling you and what most popular books say-- they are/have been almost uniformly incorrect. Think about what .... Greenspan and Ben Bernanke told you: - There will be no recession - There is only a 10% chance of recession - There is a 25% chance of a recession - We are in a mild recession, but it's already almost over - The recession was worse than we expected. No one could have predicted it. What Obama told you: - Bush/Republicans caused the recession - Pass TARP or the world will end (joined by Paulson, Bernanke and all the banking cartel) - This is the day that the oceans will begin to recede, etc. Paul Krugman, after previously saying that money printing/bailouts/stimulus would cure the problem: - "We are in the early stages of a great depression." That's just a little out of synch with the concurrent Obama/Bite-Me (excuse me, that's Biden) message:
- This is the "Recovery Summer." LOL!
Howard's article speaks more truth to us in a few paragraphs than almost all of the power structure's nonsensical propaganda. He tells us that the government and the banks are actually causing recessions and depressions and that these are designed to take wealth away from most of us and funnel it into the pockest of the well-connected. Katz also warns us that the result of all this will not be deflation as some predict, but ultimately will be huge inflation and that it will require a different investment/saving strategy.

These guys don't know Jack Shit about economics, except for how to enrich themselves and their buddies at our expense. The basic message from these guys...in a nutshell...to the un-employed and all of us is:
Everyone MAX out your credit cards and buy tons of shit you don't need or want. Go DEEPER into DEBT, borrow, borrow, borrow and eventually all this will "stimulate" the economy and someone will give you a job...so don't bother looking for one...spend away and a job will come looking for YOU!
