This is really kind of weird. I can't call it news, because it's delusion. This NY Slimes editorial claims that Republicans want to raise taxes on "the poor" while lowering them for "the rich." The "Tea Party" is not mentioned this time. Whaaa?

"My fellow Americans. In an effort to bring 100 percent focus to job growth in the country, I stand before Congress tonight to speak to you tonight of a bold new plan--stunning in its simplicity, and audacious in its structure.
Tonight, I am announcing that for the remainder of my term in office, I will be attending a Professional Golf Association fantasy camp that will last until January 21, 2013. As evidenced by the more than eighty rounds of golf I have played while serving as your president, I love the game with a passion. Unfortunately, I am also what some refer to as a really shitty golfer. In fact, George W Bush could whip my short pants off playing with nothing but a putter. I intend to change that.
I wish you good luck avoiding another financial crisis. Unfortunately, I have no advice to offer nor do I have any ideas as to how you might wish to proceed from here. A: Dr. Larry Arnn, President of Hillsdale College, delivers a series of lectures on America’s founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. This course is free to all who register.

1. Personal Background
I’m proud to be a Tea Partier and a bit less proud to be a CA Republican (more on that soon). I was recruited into the Tea Party movement by Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Soebarkah, also gun salesman of the year.

On the Obama retirement program 2008-9. Now, my job is political activist of various sorts.
Not much previous political involvement. Very busy with business and life. Hated politics. Still do. Wanted to help make sure the country didn’t get into too much trouble while I was living my life, pretty much minding my own business. Have voted in almost every election (absentee) for decades. Mostly voted AGAINST things/people rather than for them. Was a Republican by default voter for a long time. Not anymore. I know now that much of the data I used to evaluate alternatives was bogus.
Supported Bush II both times, not because I thought he was a great leader, but because the alternative was so horrible. Last President I felt good about voting for was Ronald Reagan.
My financial education helped drive my political education. It began with the 2000 tech crash, which happened while I was working in Europe. I learned about hype and bubbles- it was a very costly education, which ultimately resulted in big losses, but later quadrupling my remaining holdings 2003-7. 2008 was another story. Even though I thought I had solid investments- oil, PM, uranium, hi-tech- they tanked big time. Still not fully recovered. I learned all about business cycles, the long term economic cycle, which appears to be actually politically driven- up to 70 years. When governments and powerful backers want to force things to happen, they can print money, change laws, anything really, to get the desired results. But this only works temporarily.
During all this time, I was consulting, mostly for fortune 1000 and private equity firms, which held many manufacturing companies. I worked on operations improvement, business systems, acquisitions, divestitures, turnarounds, even shutdowns/bankruptcy. Over 150 companies. I could see the effects of government policies and the economy on them, resulting in extreme cost-cutting, offshoring, restructuring, hollowing out of value and attempts to work around corrosive policies, taxes, regulations, high costs.
It was the 2008 election campaign which really set off my alarm bells. GW Bush seemed like a disappointment, but he really turned out to be a disaster, paving the way for a strong kneejerk reaction to the left. I watched a highly mediocre McCain gradually crush his rivals, with backing of MSM and RINO hierarchy. Then “Obama,” or whoever he is, but definitely a nobody of no background, no accomplishments, and extremely left-wing, incredibly pushed Hillary off the winner’s platform and marched on to the White House, past the destruction of the credit and market crashes. It wasn’t long after, with TARP being implemented, Stimulus on the launching pad and the long, dirty Obamacare nightmare already under construction, that Rick Santinelli staged his legendary rant, helping to launch the Tea Party, as we know it now, with some midwifery assisting.
2. Tea Party Background
Some claim the TP movement was started by Ron Paul, who had similar groups going back years. However, it is generally agreed that the CNBC Rick Santelli rant on the Chicago exchange was the spark that ignited the current large scale movement. Several organizations, such as Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity and others poured money and publicity into it. Tea Party Patriots jumped into the lead quickly, with a national web site and events. Other groups quickly followed. Almost immediately, Tea Party events, marked by interesting signs, flags, chants, speeches, outrage and demands for reform, sprung up. It truly became a grassroots movement, although other forces continue attempts to steer or at least channel it, with limited success. Although some have tried to step up and lead it, we resist that, which is both a weakness and strength. The creative destruction that has ensued has been mostly positive.
It was about then that I was ripe for a change, with time on my hands and great concern for our future, I joined a local Tea Party. The overall Tea Party (actually parties, but that’s another whole speech) has the objectives of:
- Fiscal soundness
- Constitutional Republic, liberty, self-determination
- Smaller government
- Free enterprise
- Strong defense
Members also tend to identify with certain social issues, even though that is not our main thrust. As a Tea Party web site editor of http://VenturaCountyTeaParty.com , I can attest to the fact that key social issues ALWAYS attract the most readership and passion.
Initial flush of outrage, demonstrations and WNGTIA, has morphed into concerted political education and action. 2010 election heavily influenced by Tea Party, but less so in CA.
Numbers of our people on the streets are way down, Sunday Patriots have gone back to their LazyBoys and TV’s. Meanwhile, activists are digging in, organizing, networking, and becoming more effective. Some of us have chosen to help “reform” Republican Party.
3. Founding of Ventura County Tea Party
Our founders belonged to other Tea Parties initially. We wanted an organization more politically active, with an open web site, discussions and endorsing candidates. We started VCTP in March 2010. Our first event was recruiting at the Ventura Gun Show, followed by a Tenth Amendment Forum, and participation in other Tea Party events, opposition to Obamacare, Pelosi and more. We did the first regional Tea Party sponsored Congressional candidates debate. We were the first regional Tea Party to host debates, establish a web election and Constitutional forum, do a10th Amendment event, endorse candidates and co-found a SoCal coalition to endorse candidates.
We currently have a mailing list of almost 1000 and web site membership of nearly 500. We have had up to 30,000 site visitors (not visits) per month.
4. How Our Tea Party Works
- Grassroots, no rank, power of leadership, ideas, commitment. Not all Tea Parties like that- typically “dictatorships” or oligarchies, how ironic.
- Identify and develop issues
- Educate selves and members, via web, reading, studying, meetings
- Select priorities/projects
- Work with other organizations to achieve goals
- Volunteers take on key projects
- Minimal money needed- it’s time and effort, individuals contribute to causes
- Election and event-driven, but we are trying for longer term education and change orientation

- An even higher percentage vote for Republican candidates, as the lesser of two or more evils
- We have several members who are Republican delegates- more than any other Tea Party in the region. We have high cross membership in Conservative organizations.
- Nearly the entire VC Libertarian hierarchy is in our Tea Party.
- I am a CRP State delegate, VC Central Committee, CRA, Tea Party leader.
- A large percentage of members are dissatisfied with Republican candidates, officials and performance, but NOT platform
- The Republicans are the only major political bulwark against the Left. Currently it is the only organization capable of actually winning elections against the Progressive-Marxist dominated Democrat Party.
- We were the first regional Tea Party that endorsed candidates, but also declined to endorse the worst RINO candidates in 2010. Why: we will be toothless if we never disagree and always support RINO’s.
- Platform fight and primaries are key objectives. GOP Leadership told me platform doesn’t matter. That is like saying the Constitution doesn’t matter. If you don’t use either, that is indeed correct.
The Mission of the Ventura County Tea Party, a non-profit, non-partisan Citizen grassroots organization, is to help: restore fiscal responsibility; effect reductions in taxes
and spending of the government at the local, state, and national levels; mobilize and empower citizens through communication, education and the use of election, initiative and petition processes; to restore free markets, personal freedoms and rights that have been diminished, due to extensive growth of government control, and its apparent unwillingness to faithfully execute existing laws and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America.
