Insights on the primary from a savvy NY'er

George,
Yes it would appear so although I don't think Paladino has much of a chance against Cuomo in the state election due to the NYC Dem. voting bloc. Anyway, Matt Doheny defeated Hoffman in the upstate primary and will face Owens who you might remember was on my bank board (if he looses I gain him back as a director....at least I wolud have some control over him then!). I don't know that much about Doheny but I think he is a conservative and if he runs a strong campaign should win as that part of the state is heavily Republican. Of course that would mean the Rep. party would have to get their act together this time unlike the totally botched attempt last fall to defeat Owens, the first Dem. to hold that seat in many years.
It seems that the word is getting out although I am dismayed by Karl Rowe's comments on the Delaware primary. Maybe some heads need to be bashed!

Election 2010: VOTE NO - 3 California Supreme Court Candidates by Craig Huey ElectionForum.org

One of the most overlooked—yet important—votes you will cast this November. On the November 2 ballot, you will be voting for 3 California Supreme Court candidates. You will be asked to vote “yes” or “no.”

1) California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ron George.

He spearheaded denying Californians their choice in voting for traditional marriage, ran from this race in light of his disregard for the voters. So, a new candidate, Tani Cantil-Sakauye, is running for Chief Justice.

The California Supreme Court has enormous power…and your vote is vital in directing the future of very important decisions impacting every Californian both now and for generations to come.

Here is a brief analysis. For more specific information, see our website ElectionForum.org. You’ll get the truth from a Christian perspective.

2) Associate Justice Carlos Moreno - note he is Associate Justice

Justice Moreno has been on the Court since 2001, appointed by former Governor Gray Davis. He votes are very liberal. His favorite Supreme Court Judge is liberal David Souter. Moreno was on Obama’s short list for replacing Souter. He was recommended by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Moreno not only voted in the 4-3 decision to overturn traditional marriage with Proposition 23, he was the only “NO” vote in the 6-1 decision that agreed Proposition 8 vote was constitutional. In the past, he has voted against parental consent, against religious rights and against business.

3) Ming William Chin

Ming William Chin was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1996 by Gov. Pete Wilson. Since he’s been on the bench, he has voted to overturn parental consent, consistent with his pro-abortion views. He shot down Governor Wilson’s attempt to privatize highway jobs.

He voted against Christian contentious objections and for trampling religious liberty. He did vote in favor of traditional marriage and voted to uphold California ’s anti-affirmative action law. Despite a few good votes, he holds a liberal social stands and inconsistency on business/property rights issue.

4) Tani Cantil-Sakauye

Governor Schwarzenegger, Jerry Brown and Ron George as a committee approved the appointment to the Court of Tani Cantil-Sakauye as our new California Supreme Court Chief Justice.

She is 50 years old and an active member of the Japanese United Methodist Church in Sacramento , a church with a liberal pastor. She is considered a “moderate” Republican, leaning liberal on social issues. The liberal Sandra Day O’Connor was her favorite Supreme Court judge. When the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, she performed a same-sex marriage.

In cases brought before her, she has sided with the nurses union over legitimate cost concerns regarding school district positions, and, she was soft on a teen’s violent treatment to a girlfriend.

She did uphold California ’s prohibition against affirmative action and religious free speech. Her point of view is a mixed bag; she has not demonstrated a dependable, consistent, philosophical position.
I believe that the above came from Lynn Miller, via the SoCal Liberty Coalition.

original note:
this info is from a friend...Lynn

FYI – From a friend of mine - Vote NO on California Supreme Court Candidates Carlos Moreno, Ming William Chin and Tami Cantil-Sakauye – For more information, read below or visit www.ElectionForum.org . Jeanne
This came in from Monica Anderson

I noticed that the committee believes that we would be better off with Mike Villines as Insurance Commissioner, but I consider him a RINO after his actions in February 2009 when he was the Assembly Republican Leader.

Villines joined with Democratic leaders in reaching an agreement to close most of the $42 billion shortfall with tax increases WHICH HE HAD LONG PLEDGED TO OPPOSE!

Villines and former Senate Republican Leader Darrell Steinberg were ousted from their party leadership over this. As you know, voters defeated the budget referendum in May 2009.

So I cannot give my vote to a RINO. I do not know at this point who to vote for in this race, (Brian Fitzgerald came very close to beating Villines in the Primary, and he sounded so good. That was such a shame that he lost.) I am going to look at Clay Pedersen, the American Independent candidate, to learn what I can about him.

I know John & Ken with KFI 640 AM are well informed about Villines' character and actions and have long held the view -- "anybody BUT Villines".
the Calif. State Budget that Villines joined with Democrats to support and which was signed into law on Feb. 20, 2009, included:
Doubling of the Car Registration Fee
Raising of the State Income Tax
Raising of the State Sales Tax
Removal of the Child Tax Credit
Villines, in my opinion, is not worthy of receiving any Tea Party supporter's vote.

Voting information that you might find helpful

Here is the considered opinion of many who have researched for this election:

* Prop 19 – NO
* Prop 20 – YES (will allow us to fix these gerrymandered districts with a citizen committee)
* Prop 21 – NO (more tax – no reform)
* Prop 22 – NO (sounds good but has VERY bad things hidden in it – big cash grab for redevelopment agencies)
* Prop 23 – YES (failure to pass could cost over 1 million jobs and each family an estimated $3,000 per year)
* Prop 24 – NO (this will drive away even more business and kill even more jobs if that is possible)
* Prop 25 – NO (we do NOT want a simple majority to raise sales, income and gas taxes)
* Prop 26 – YES (requires a 2/3 supermajority vote to pass fees, levies, charges and tax revenue allocations)
* Prop 27 – NO (would eliminate the much needed citizen redistricting commission)

* Treasurer – Mimi Walters is a very accomplished business owner and financial analyst. She would do an A+ job and has the backing of current office holders who share our values. Mimi was
elected to the state assembly in 2004 and the senate in 2008. Her
focus is on fixing the budget and doing it without gimmicks.

* Lt. Gov – Write in candidate “Karen England” is the pick for this position. It isn’t a position of any particular gravitas unless the governor dies. Gavin
Newsom is Gavin Newsom and Abel Maldonado needs to be sent a
message. Karen has worked closely with conservative representatives and
is well respected as an advocate for family values. Karen is the founder
and director of the Capitol Resource Institute
The mission of Capitol Resource
Institute
(CRI) is to educate, advocate, protect, and defend family-friendly
policies in the California
state legislature and at local government levels. www.capitolresource.org

* State Superintendent of Public Instruction – Write in candidate “Diane Lenning” makes her the only conservative in this race. She has great ideas and
would like to restore some common sense to our school system. Here
is her commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aewmd5c7reg&feature=player_embedded

Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye (Chief Justice of the CA Supreme Court)

July 21, 2010 California: Less than one week after Ronald GeorgeCalifornia Supreme Court, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Tani
Cantil-Sakauye to replace the justice. [1]
announced he will step down from the

Schwarzenegger first appointed Cantil-Sakauye to the California Third District Court of Appeal in 2004. Prior to this position, Cantil-Sakauye served for eight
years on the Sacramento County
Superior Court. Her judicial career began when she was appointed to the
Sacramento Municipal Court in 1990. [2]

In order to join the California Supreme Court and serve as head of the state's judiciary, the appointment must be confirmed by the California Commission on
Judicial Appointments. Then, she will run for rentention in the general election, hopefully
beginning a 12 years term in January 2011.
[3][4]

Of the nominee, Schwarzenegger said, "Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye has a distinguished history of public service and understands that the role of a
justice is not to create law, but to independently and fairly interpret and
administer the law." The nominee has been described as a moderate. [3]

Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye is a justice on the Third District of the California Courts of Appeal. She was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger on December 3, 2004 and took the oath of office on January 5, 2005. She was retained by voters in the November 7, 2006
election.[1][2][3]

Sakauye is a member of the Judicial Council of California.[4]

Nomination for Chief Justice

On July 21, 2010, Governor Schwarzenegger nominated Cantil-Sakauye to replace retiring Chief Justice Ronald
George. Of the nomination, Cantil-Sakauye said, "Being nominated to
serve on the highest court in California
is a dream come true. As a jurist, woman and a Filipina, I am extremely
grateful for the trust Gov. Schwarzenegger has placed in me."[5]

On August 25, 2010, her appointment was unanimously confirmed by the California Commission on Judicial Appointments.[6]
Her name will appear on the ballot in the November 2010 general election; if
she is retained in this election, she
will take current Chief Justice Ronald
George's seat at the end of his current term, on January 3,
2010.[7]
[8]

Judicial philosophy

In an interview with The Sacramento Bee in 2005, Cantil-Sakauye said:

"My philosophy is to really listen closely to what people have to say and try to balance it with everything they've told me and give them a fair shot to tell me what they're thinking. ... If I let them ramble a bit, point
them in a direction, I learn why that person is there much better than in a
question-and-answer format."

the federal bench. [3]

Justice Moreno was nominated to the federal bench by President Bill Clinton and in February 1998, he was unanimously confirmed to the United
States District Court for the Central District of California by the United
States Senate. Moreno
served the Central District of California for over three years, until his
resignation from the court on October 18,
2001. [4]
He was sworn in that same day to the California Supreme Court.

Moreno is among the potential candidates whom Obama asked about as his advisers started compiling dossiers for potential nominees after his election, Marc Ambinder is reporting. Another was Sonia

Good stuff, thanks!

Just one question. We have been advised against voting for Cantil-Sakauye by three sources. Why do you endorse her?
http://www.electionforum.org/ra_archives/RealityAlert20100929.html#...

Tani Cantil-Sakauye—NO

Governor Schwarzenegger, Jerry Brown and Ron George as a committee approved the appointment to the Court of Tani Cantil-Sakauye as our new California Supreme Court Chief Justice.

She is 50 years old and an active member of the Japanese United Methodist Church in Sacramento, a church with a liberal pastor.

She is considered a “moderate” Republican, leaning liberal on social issues. The liberal Sandra Day O’Connor was her favorite Supreme Court judge.

When the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, she performed a same-sex marriage.

One of her favorite sayings is, “There is no one truth, only versions of it.” That speaks to a judicial philosophy that bends with political expediency…and frankly, that scares me a bit.

In cases brought before her, she has sided with the nurses union over legitimate cost concerns regarding school district positions, and, she was soft on a teen’s violent treatment to a girlfriend.

On the plus side, she did uphold California’s prohibition against affirmative action and religious free speech.

Her point of view is a mixed bag, but she hasn’t made enough good decisions from the bench or demonstrated a dependable, consistent, philosophical position to earn our recommendation.

We recommend a “NO” vote.
Those of us in District 23 have to help Tom Watson defeat Lois Capps. Signs will be available tomorrow, Wednesday 20th at the Rep. Office on Thompson near Round Table Pizza. Come and get some signs to distribute around the area.
Thanks, Pattie:

Also, I hear that Tom will be walking Ventura Wednesday. meeting at Carrow' at Harbor and Seaward., Join us!

Don't forget the Watson-Capps debate on dsatuday 2 PM SBCC

Tom will be at the Channel Islands Harbor Farmer's Market Sunday 10-12
The USA spends a lot of money on healthcare. If you want to cut healthcare costs, eat better, stop smoking, loose the flab and get some exercise. Eat Good Food, Think Good Thoughts, Get Your Happiness Every Day--Paul H. Johnson. Too many Americans eat bad food, are grossly overweight and stressed out, work too much and exercise too little. Obesity is a National Epidemic. Childhood Obesity in the USA is a huge problem. A government program to educate the public on healthly living would be a good investment on saving health care costs down the road.

Obama healthcare is an improvement--at least the insurance companies cannot cancel your coverage when you get ill, claiming that you had "a preexisting condition".

Obama healthcare is hardly a government takeover of healthcare. The legislations adds 40 million people to the customer base of the medical insurance industry, drug companies and hospitals. Good time to buy medical insurance companies and drug companies.

The legislation is projected to reduce the national debt by $100 Billion Dollars over 10 years. That is a good thing.

Too many doctors are doctors to make money, rather than be a healer. The process of getting a medical degree in this country excludes too many who would make great doctors, but cannot afford the expense of getting the training. We need more government programs that reduce the financial barriers to getting a medical degree. My friend Bob, who went to Harvard as an undergrad, joined the Navy in order to have the government pay for his medical training. Part of his reimbursement to the taxpayers for subsidizing his medical school education was spending a year in a Navy field hospital in Somalia.

“consequently, that the ultimate right of the parties to the Constitution (i.e. the States), to judge whether the compact has been dangerously violated, must extend to violations by one delegated authority as well as by another--by the judiciary as well as by the executive, or the legislature.” Virginia Assembly Report 1800, James Madison.

If a nation can't define its boundaries, who comes in and on what terms, then it can't sustain itself culturally, financially, politically, morally and with security.  It's not a nation.- G. Miller

A federal government which does not derive its lawful and limited authority from the Constitution of the United States is by definition an occupation government and criminal regime.  It’s authority is null and void and no one is bound by any rule of law to obey it.  --Donald L. Cline

Everybody is still talking about the other baby, the royal baby. In fact, I saw that President Obama released a statement congratulating Prince William and Kate Middleton on the birth of their son. Then he said, “And whatever you do — hang on to that birth certificate.” - Jimmy Fallon

The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

"There are 27 amendments in the Constitution but only one says 'shall not be infringed,'" Steve Toth said. "The Second Amendment is the amendment that keeps the people free."

“The States then being the parties to the constitutional compact, and in their sovereign capacity, it follows of necessity, that there can be no tribunal above their authority, to decide in the last resort, whether the compact made by them be violated; and consequently that as the parties to it, they must themselves decide in the last resort, such questions as may be of sufficient magnitude to require their interposition.” – James Madison

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” - "Obama", 2008

"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again."

This country does not need to have a conversation about how many bullets should go in a clip. It does need to have a conversation about how many parents should go in a family. It needs to talk about the ghettos of Obamerica and have a serious conversation about broken families and generational dependency. It needs to have a conversation about funneling new immigrants from broken parts of the world into areas already suffering from high levels of unemployment and street violence.- Daniel Greenfield

“Disarmament of the populace is always the first step to depriving them of their civil rights and human rights…many African-Americans and women are actively assaulting the very document that first secured their own freedom... if you do not believe in the Bill of Rights, then you are not, at heart, an American.” – Mike Adams

Only in America could liberals talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.

We need to demythologize guns before the liberal attempt to create a totemic fear of them succeeds. If the gun control mentality promoting fear of guns themselves becomes our national mentality, we would turn the clock back to the days when a warrior class ruled over the people because only they had the confidence and expertise to deploy the means of defense and coercion. The gun control agenda will turn us into a people too timid to defend themselves from our would-be masters. – Alan Keyes

So now that there is a new tragedy the president wants to have a “national conversation on guns”. Here’s the thing. Until this national conversation is willing to entertain allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons, then it isn’t a conversation at all, it is a lecture. – Larry Correia'

How can we stand up to someone that creates a 100 dollar Federal Reserve (FR) note for 2 cents and uses the face value of the note of 100 dollars to buy a 100 dollar U.S. Security where the government has to pay them 4% in interest at the end of the year? A yearly cost of 4 FR notes where it only cost the FR 2 cents to print.

This is the biggest Conspiracy you may ever encounter and this started sometime around 1913. Yes, your parents and their parents had so much of their time stolen from them at a cost of 2 pennies. “Can you imagine a nation founded on the principles of God is being taken over by a party that despises God, denies God’s existence and wants to stab Israel in the back in order to support the Islamists who would kill the Jews and drive them out of the Middle East?”- - Michael Savage

“Capital must protect itself in every possible way, both by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through the process of law, the common people lose their homes, they will become more docile and more easily governed through the strong arm of government applied by a central power of wealth under leading financiers. These truths are well known among our principal men who are now engaged in forming an imperialism to govern the world. By dividing the voter through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting for questions of no importance. It is thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves that which has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished.”

"Sixty-one percent of debt issued by the Treasury is bought by the Federal Reserve -- which is to say the left hand of the U.S. Government is lending money to the right hand of the US Government. ... Nonetheless, in a land where every mewling babe in the American nursery is born with a debt burden of just under $200,000, the president brags that only his party is 'compassionate' to have no plan whatsoever even to attempt to do anything about this, no way, no how, not now, not ever." --columnist Mark Steyn

Permit me to hint whether it would not be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of foreigners into the administration of our national government ; and to declare expressly that the command in chief of the American army shall not be given to, nor devolve on any but a natural born citizen.

"The actual need for a service, its relevance and value is always subordinate to the bureaucracy.
